All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Great work! I rode many miles behind one of those (on a GS550), and I think you will find it very comfortable and convenient. The storage space is great for rain gear, wallet, etc. There should be a place for a GPS unit, too, instead of the maps that are intended for those vinyl straps.

I think new windshields and pop vents are still available for these, also.

That's great stuff Andre, very impressive! Looks like you just rode out of a store with it... :dancing:

Andre, Jennifer's clothes are on thier way down to you as we speak with a Pic of the colour scheme I want. ;)
I have dropped you an e-mail with the details for the vents, shout if you need any extra info, hope they work for you.

Stan,
Thanks for the details on the vents, that will come in quite handy.
I did not get the picture of the colour scheme though?
Hopefully this week will give some time for the windshield!
Thanks again.:)

Windshield completed

Windshield completed

Finally I have the windshield completed. Had the piece of Perspex bent at plastic sign shop, using the mold I made earlier.
Cut it to size this morning and fitted. I also made a half size in case I want something lower later.

Others have already said it but it is still amazing to think that this started with a chopped up fairing and a dream.Great work!

Andre, I am in awe of your skills as well!

You have the RB stamp of approval to play Conway Twitty on it! :D

Dale, Thanks. As soon as I had taken this photo, the weather started building up and it seems as if its going to start raining soon. I was ready for a test drive and its now back in the garage waiting for tomorrow!:)
I need to find a good bike song somewhere!

:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

Andre,

You need to put in for bike of the month.

AND those before and after pics and the story MUST get sent to Craig Vetter hisself. Betcha you get a prominent spot on his website.

Nice work!

Like others said that is amazing. The whole bike looks incredible. You should be very proud of your excellent work.

Just plain awesome Andre, you should be damn proud of yourself for that effort!

And BOTM sounds like it would be very well deserved :D

...bike just keeps getting better and better! AWESOME JOB, ANDRE!!!

I had emailed back and forth some years ago with Craig Vetter, and couldn't resist sending him a note with a link to this thread (this morning). I wouldn't be at all surprised if he poked his head in here at some point - nice, down to earth guy, he is. I have no doubt that he'll be incredibly impressed with your fine work when he sees it, Pal!

Enjoy!

Most of the credit for this job really goes to the members of this forum as mentioned earlier in this thread. Without them it would never have happened and without this forum I would never have been acquainted with them.

Then all the positive comments helped to keep me motivated, as at times I wondered if I had not bitten off more than I could chew!

So thanks to all of you that helped me physically or inspirational, without you it would not have been possible. :)

If anyone ever contemplates doing something like this themselves, first have some tests done to see if you have not had a mental relapse! If your shrink says you are OK and you still think you want to, you are welcome to contact me if you need more specifics on how I did something.

Thanks again to all.
