A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

My #2 plug keeps fouling out because (ASSuming) extra fuel is coming out of the vac hose when I have the carb in the "Run" position when the bike is parked. As a super quick fix, I have been running it on PRI when I ride and it rides well. Whenever I park it, I use my handy mini flat head and turn the petcock to Run. Until my Pingel gets here, can I plug the Vac hole on the petcock and the vac hole on the carbs and be ok while riding, durring startup after I turn it to PRI, and when its parked?

I guess Im just not sure if the petcock requires vac. to initiate fuel flow. For clarification, I turn the petcock from "Run" to "PRI" right before I start the bike when I go to ride. When I park it, I hit the kill switch and then turn the carb to "Run" before I walk away from it.

As I understand it, even the PRI function requires just a puff of vacuum to start working on those dreaded '80 petcocks.
Once they see that initial puff, they will continue to flow.

I am curious now, why is it that my '80 850G THANKFULLY  has a "normal" petcock? :-k

You can plug it but it sounds like the rubber diaphragm is bad so it may not matter. Pull the gas line off & see if it works or not when you do it. You have a problem with that carb too, the needle & seat should stop the flow so I doubt this will cure your problem, otherwise they would all be doing it. Please include the year & model when you ask questions.

Won't work on your fuel tap. That POS design needs vacuum to open the diaphragm on prime. Once it's open on prime it stays open (or should do if it's working properly) even with the motor switched off. In the run position the diaphragm should only be open with the motor spinning.
