• This forum allows conversation on non-controversial topics, therefore no politics or religion. "The Campfire" is an area meant for casual, civil discussions. Deliberate anti-social activity including personal insults, profanity, pornography, racism, threats and purposely inflammatory posts may result in suspension of forum access or possibly a permanent ban from GSR.

The words insight and incite are pronounced the same. But one of them will get you banned and the other will not. Before hitting the Submit button be certain which of the two better describes your post.

    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Nice.. well except for that whole snow thing....:)

This is a few hours later from our deck. Sun came out things are melting. Weathers supposed to go well above freezing in a day or two. I'm kind of done with winter and time to drag the bikes out again. It was nice last week and got out a few times already.

Another study, One shot at large aperture for shallow depth of field, another shot at small aperture for larger depth of field.

Great shots Scott. Water so much better when it's clean.
Went to pickup my taxes today got bored and took a longer way home pass an area frequented by migrating birds. Found these guys, Sandhill Cranes. I knew they come through this way on occasion but have never actually seen them until today. Yay!

Was using an old lens, back from the last century, 1980s actually. (adapted to fit more modern digital camera)
Presents the annoying situation of having to actually focus myself (not so well this time).

I got tired of how my laptop would drag when I tried to edit any photos so I built a new desktop computer this past weekend. Since my desk real estate is extremely limited with my work laptop, docking station, and dual monitors, I also bought a Keyboard, Video, and Mouse (KVM) switch box. However, I also don't that just sitting on the floor so I made this mount for it tonight and tested the fit. It's drying right now so I can't mount it to the wall until tomorrow though.

mm

Wow, even with the zoom at full 300mm, you must have been quite close !

Actually they were probably about 60 - 70 feet away and shooting 300mm on the m4/3 is actually 600mm. Photo was cropped in height about 25% and square to get rid of a bunch of negative space and then added a few minor tweaks in LR.

Great shots Bob. I've got and couple of old prime Nikon G lenses hanging around. Guess I'll have to get myself one of those adaptors
