DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

The old building obviously has history Grimly. What are we looking at?

It's the old trackbed of the railway line that ran from Waterford to Dungarvan. This is the old signalbox in Kilmacthomas.
The old track is the dotted green line.

About 25 years ago I became aware of the abandoned railway line and made enquiries about purchasing the station building in Kilmacthomas. The railway company couldn't release any of the trackside property because the local authority had their eyes on it to make a country walkway / cycle route. It took many years before they pulled their fingers out and finally got it done.

Thanks, I can see it now. Scrolling around the map reading the place names there are many that were brought to this part of the world by homesteaders a hundred or so years ago.

Nice moon shot.

I'm also enjoying the birdfeeder shots. My parents had one, along with the suet for the woodoeckers, but generally only fed them in the winter.
I was in Northeast NJ yesterday and a very vivid yellow (not an Eastern Goldfinch) was flying around and landed on my passeger side mirror a couple of times, but I couldn't get a picture.

. . . . . caught the Indigo Bunting ........

Our granddaughter is something of a birdwatcher too.
Yah she is just two years old, can be sitting there looking out the window, and hollers " pecker - pecker - pecker ".
Yep, was a woodpecker there in view.

Went back to Escanaba Park, to get a current shot of the mast reflecting in the granite plaque.
Had to go in morning when sun on the mast but plaque is in the shade.
35degF and quite windy, I thought I was prepared for that, but was hard to operate the camera when laying on the ground shivering.

Need to decide which posing/framing is more appealing.

Was late enough in the morning that sun was high enough to be in my eyes, made it hard to see what I was framing.
Maybe need to go back earlier in morning, maybe can get more complete view of the mast arm in frame.
And maybe get the plaque itself to be softer focus, with mast/reflection in sharp focus. But, ah, I got other things to deal with.
