A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Random Photo thread

Thanks Dave. The. Number of pics on a given walk can vary wildly depending on location, what catches my eye, etc. Typically between 20-50 and many get deleted before even leaving the camera. Since I've been regularly going out this year, even if just a walk in town, I've found that I can get decent results with far less attempts. I've found that practice makes.... less imperfect. :D

Thanks Roger. Wether you realize it or not, you, some other photography fans here, and this site are mostly the reason for my fully re embracing photography.
When I completed the two year photography degree at the community College back in the late 90s, it was at a time of life where I needed to be a provider and not a dreamer. HVAC was steady. Chasing photography pursuits likely wouldn't have been.

The Riding Game and Anyone Go For a Ride Today threads were the beginning of my frustration with sub par cameras / cell phones.. Picture Of The Week Game was enough to push me over and start looking for a good camera. The last two years have been a lovely journey of learning and exploring imagery. There was a pretty significant learning curve for me going from film to digital.

I thank you and all involved.

Cool! I blame this guy though. LOL

............. Impressive............

Not to mention the games (and...um...contestants?) on this site.

I can't remember taking more than maybe a single picture of any of my previous vehicles, bikes or otherwise. Some I really wish I could find even one pic of. Now I look through my files and have thousands of pics of my last seven bikes alone. Mostly my 83 850G. It is by far the most photogenic of the lot.

Ha. If I recall correctly, Redman was the first one here I chatted via PM about photography.

And agreed, your 850 is a beautiful cycle. Very photogenic, and one with classic looks and style. The black and maroon look so nice.

Man, I step away for a couple of weeks and you guys go nuts. Well done Glen on your reflections and scenics and real nice job on your flower shots and Bob ...see, bird shots aren't that hard, well done also. It's been the season of spring thaw in the backcountry here which means mud and gop and not a lot of access to the really cool spots. Flowers are starting and we managed to get 1 1/2 hours up the valley with the RV and mountain bikes for a few days. First time we've been more than and hour away from the house in over 10 months. Hopefully post a couple of shots later.

Nice Sandy.

Hoodoos? Had to google that one, but now I have a new word. Thanks.

All you guys are inspiring me.
I'll say "inspiring", but also is some challenge, some encouragement, and some amazement at seeing some of the work.

.

My shot last night. Includes a guy I met out on beach in February. (my pic is jpg straight out of camera).

Sharp shots! It's Hard to get a sharp critter shot, even with a good camera. They seem to KNOW when I've finally got focused and then fly away.

Not a great picture from the phone, but interesting. Ongoing. At first, I thought it was a "slaving expedition", but it's not-they are sisters or cousins. Break them apart and they both run around in circles, confused. They are moving to a new location 50 yards away -constant traffic! and a two year process, apparently, with an ant-highway beaten into the grass... The old nest is still an active outpost but much reduced in size by the flickers in winter.. I'm curious to know if there's still a queen in it...

I noticed this bird following me in my yard. Wondered why, then noticed bands around it's legs.
I sat in a lawn chair and it sat there next to me about twenty minutes flew up on the fence for a while and then took off .

Had reason to be on far side of Grand Rapids (again, in car this time). Took camera with me. Was gonna just drive back, but thought of going downtown for a photowalk, then though "no, dont want to have to deal with parking, dont want to pay for parking, its getting hot, I shoulf get home..." THen thought "naw, you can spend 5 buck to take advantage of an opportunity, is good lighting....".
SO I did, went into one of the big parking ramps. ANd then strolled downtown. Was fun to explore around, looking at the buildings.

Took a few shots of this ....

and then later thought "Oh, that is somewhat Dorkburgerish."

I like the juxtaposition between the old and new.
