Deliberate anti-social activity including personal insults, profanity, pornography, racism, threats and purposely inflammatory posts may result in suspension of forum access or possibly a permanent ban from GSR.

The words insight and incite are pronounced the same. But one of them will get you banned and the other will not. Before hitting the Submit button be certain which of the two better describes your post.

    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Random Photo thread

Not an artsy pic but pretty random. I saw this while on my way to work yesterday. A bit scary as I have quite a few trees really close to my house.

It's in a town nearby. I don't know anything about it except that it looks like the house may have been uninhabited. I hope.

Holy moly :nightmare:
We have lots of trees near are house as well. When the wind comes a howlin there's always that voice in the back of my head saying "today could be the day".

Yikes. Thats some heavy damage. According to our then neighbors a large Oak fell on the roof of our hose a few years before we bought it so we have a relatively new roof. During Hurricane Sandy we had a large Scottish Maple split at a crotch in the tree and half of it came down on our shed and part of the soffits on the house. If I hadn't moved the car that afternoon, that would have like been a total loss as well.

The sun finally came out after a week or so of cloud and rain. Thankfully we were very lucky to have missed all the chaos and flooding to the west of us. Still very unseasonally warm here though, the foreground area should be covered in snow by now and the rivers edge iced over.

Thanks for the kudos guys. Living next to the rockies makes taking great pictures easy when the weather cooperates. Love the little 12/32, especially when all I want to do is slide the camera in my coat pocket when traveling light.

Yes they do, there are signs all over saying to stay inside your vehicle if the Elk or Bison are within 200 feet. They are usually pretty mellow except calving season. It is never advisable to get between any Mama and her child no matter the species........

Pretty well the same advice here for hiking in Grasslands National Park. The bison are free range, they can run 35mph and there are no trees to climb. The rule is that if any part of a bison side view extends beyond the width of a thumb, with arm at full extension, you should back off slowly.
