Rear wheel/drive/transmission???

Alright guys, I need your help.

My "Hockey game" 1982 850GL is getting back together, I rebuilt/cleaned the carbs, new o rings and boots and sealed airbox, new tires, fork seals, gas gauge fixed, oil leak fixed, valves adjusted and hours of cleaning.

Now my question(s)....

I had a rear tire mounted for me and I checked the splines, seemed ok but after more research it seems I need to take the wheel off again and remove the splines to inspect them, no big deal, I am glad I checked into it. But the bike does NOT roll like it is suppossed to. Almost Like I need to push it downhill. Much more difficult than any other shaft bike I have ever rolled around. I had the "pumpkin" off and it seemed normal, No extra play, well lubed, etc. I reached into the driveshaft housing with some pliers and had trouble moving the driveshaft. Should that be easy to spin with the bike in neutral? I lossened the clutch cable in hopes that might be it, maybe the cutch is not disengaged completly, but no change. When I got my tire back, I lubed it up with the recomended moly 60 and slapped it together in hopes that it just needed to be put together "right". Nothing, still very difficult to roll around. Just so you all now, I have moved and rode several shaft bikes up to a full dresser gold wing and that was easier to move then this bike, so I am not crazy (well,,, nevermind) This aint right. I need some ideas....Any and all help is very much appreciated.

Sorry about the long post, but I wanted to try and make sure I included everything.

How are the wheel bearings?

Did the spacer in the final drive get lost along the way?

I will be double checking the bearings when I take it back off. And the spacer is still there, if your talking aboout the "tophat" shaped spacer inside the splines in the "pumpkin".

Common complaint for the shaft drive, but it is normal. Assuming that the brakes are not draging Spread the rear brake pads apart. Try and spin the wheel about 1/2-3/4 turn is normal

Yep, I should have mentioned this...the brakes are actually OFF the bike now, So that can not be the problem. Thanks for the idea....anything else?
