A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So, you send your carbs out to get rebuilt, what do you expect the rebuild to be? Should the carbs come back looking like the pics? Would you question the work performed on the inside if the outside looked like these? What if you were told, "They were cleaned and rebuilt. Open them up and have a look. If your engine is healthy they will work as should. I can't believe you would complain before even installing them."

In the first pic, the brown spot at 11 o'clock is a chunk of crud at that was stuck to the inside of the throat. I knocked it off right before the pic was taken. I sent them out to be rebuilt simply because I don't have the time right now. Next time I guess I will make time.

Did the re-builder tell you what method he used to clean the carbs?

I've never used dip, as we don't get it over here. And I can't see that those have been through an ultrasonic cleaner. Unless maybe he forgot to turn it on.

Sometimes junk leaches out from around the throttle shafts like that. It's hard to flush out that area really well after dipping. That photo shows more than normal though. The dirt between carbs would indicate the carbs were not properly unganged, or maybe they were completely covered in sludge and the builder didn't scrub them down they way they should have been.

Who did the rebuild work?

I've being using two parts Pine Sol to one part water as a carb dip for years, it's always done the job. The guy who "Showed me the ropes" taught me that one.

Might be fine for carbs that are not very dirty and varnished, but it doesn't work well for carbs that are. Pine Sol turns the carb bodies dark too.

I did the carbs and cleaned them ultrasonically, Show a pic of the insides and install them and ride. This guy accused me of just doing a carb spray. Not true.
I will not polish butterflies.

sorry, but if i paid for that service i would demand a refund. How can you ultrasonic clean the inside of the carbs without cleaning the outside as well? why do you not clean butterflies?
A full carb clean means just that IMO.

If these have been in an ultrasonic cleaner, then they haven't been in there for too long.

I wasn't going to say who it is was but since you spoke up, now they know. My point is the crap that is still in the throats and on the butterflies. Not clean at all and you do not seem to care. Some of the crap in the throats wipes right off, was it too much for you to even swab them out? I shouldn't have to take them apart to see if they are clean on the inside as the outside should be just as clean. I question the inside because of the outside. Did you actually clean all the passages inside or did you simply rely on the ultrasonic bath to clean them out? If there was crap left in them as there is in the throats of the carbs, then they will plug up easy enough. I will definitely install them and if they do not work properly, full blast it is. Even if they do work, they still were not cleaned properly on the outside. The rack wasn't even broken down. You simply gave the rack a bath and installed carb kits. Stop calling what you do a rebuild as it is far from it. Say what you want but the pics don't lie and I can add a few more if ya'd like.

If they run and you get clogged up jets etc. etc. send them to me and i will go through them. And this offer is in NO WAY an attack or slam against ANYONE or the work. Let me be 1000% clear about that before the bittching and name calling finger pointers even start the crap rolling.

Good on you Chuck Hahn,

No sense in getting anyone's feathers ruffled...but we know some people enjoy that sort of thing.

Ive had my history in this area as well. He will not pay me a dime except return postage if he decides. I will not rehash this any further thus my disclaimer with my offer.
