See my other thread in "GS Stories" where I picked this bike up from @wazz and have spent the winter/spring getting it back up and running and some cosmetics tidied up with the help of some spares from @bwringer. Long story short, I'm realizing I just lack the bandwidth for vintage bike tinkering at the moment, with a baby and another young child at home right now. After the first few test rides, I'm also realizing I'm more of a GS1000/1100 guy than a 850 guy, for when I'm ready for another GS in the stable. I wanted to post the bike here to see if a GSR member would be interested, at a very friendly price.
The bike has just under 27k miles. I'd call the overall condition "refurbished survivor," in its original paint and patina. Greg nicely updated it with progressive shocks out back and springs up front, along with braided stainless brake lines and updated brake pads. Riding this thing has been a revelation for me, as someone who has never bothered to update/modify suspension on these old bikes. it is honestly the nicest handling and braking older “UJM” I’ve ridden. I went through and cleaned the carbs and replaced a few parts (using only OEM Suzuki bits). The bike starts, idles, and performs beautifully through the gears. The bike has an updated stator and rectifier/regulator (the bane of old GS Suzukis), the ignition is an updated Dyna S style unit. Shinko 712 tires have plenty of life left in them, the rear is probably down to 50%. Cosmetically I’d call it a five footer. A few age related scratches and dents (pictured) a bit of rust on the mufflers (but no rust through or blockage). The bike comes with beautifully color matched and well preserved Vetter windjammer fairing kit (mounting bracket wiring fairing and windshield with keys) if you're into that sort of thing.
