A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

In another thread( http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?t=95530) I posted how my bike is bogging down real bad when I rev it up to 2K RPM's or so. While cleaning the carbs(not removing, just shooting with cleaner) I had removed the air box, as I ordered 4 individual air filters, mostly for appearance. Right now it is running with nothing for filters or air box(just running it in the barn). In reading other threads, it sounds like this may be my issue. Will the GS850 crap out above idle with no air filter attached??? Figure I should ask before I have all the carbs ripped out. I guess it does seem that the bogging started when I ripped the air box off. Thanks

Zero chance of the bike running correctly at all RPM ranges without the airbox. If you go to pods, be prepared fro a jetting nightmare - been discussed a million times on this forum.

Does the bike have stock pipes? With stock jetting and pipes you will not be able to get the bike to run properly. It will run poorly for a while, and then it won't run at all, becasue you will likely hole a piston or burn some valves. Jetting for pods and stock pipes is also a nightmare, but it can be done if you are really dedicated.

Looks are not everything.....cancel that order man.

Stock airbox is absolutely essential unless you want major work...period.

Thanks all, replaced the air box and she runs like a raped date.... Kinda bummed the Pods wont really work. Guess I'll send them back when they get here...

850's are the epitomy of effeciency and reliability in a motorcycle. Enjoy your fuel mileage and not having to lube and adjust a chain.

That was so reasonable and complimentary -- Jethro's medication has really been working wonders lately.

And don't worry, a GS850 with the stock airbox and exhaust definitely won't get in anyone's way:
