Is there a "better than" replacement starter relay? I mean do any of you gurus recommend one over another? Is the universal K&L worth it, or is there something else more worthy? I hate electrical work.

I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.
A starter solenoid intended for a garden tractor is a cheap, common, and convenient replacement. Maybe $10 or $11 at any home center.
Starter solenoids all do exactly the same thing, so don't overthink this... there's nothing magical about the Genuine Suzuki part. Virtually any solenoid you can manage to bolt to the bike will work fine. The garden tractor piece happens to be easy to get and about the same size as the original, so it's the most convenient.

Thanks for that little bit of genius. By the way Lafayette was a sad little town. It reminded me of a 1970s Pennsylvania steel town. It rained the whole time and was not a pleasant experience.

Oh, but you should see it in the sunlight -- it's magical... :razz:
West Lafayette (land of Purdue) is pretty nice, but I'll agree that Lafayette itself is, um, a little awkward in spots. Especially in the rain, near the interstate and all that ugly industrial sprawl. Downtown is just beginning to develop faint glimmers of civilization, but it can be depressing, too. The town's not quite big enough to take good care of itself.
I will also go on record to say the Lafayette Brewing Company ( http://lafayettebrewingco.com ) makes the finest beers I've ever quaffed. There's no marble on the floors, but the beers are consistently absolutely world-class. So there's that, at least.
Overall, I'm still glad I moved to Indianapolis. But I do go back to Lafayette for the beer whenever I can.
