A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Your own mini SturGiS ;)

Im sure the Chi-guys told you leaving Chicago to the east on 90/290/94 SUX !! Id go east to the Mississippi River on 80/88 and then plan a route to SD.

West on 80/88? Only 80 I see leaving Chi to the east is linked with 90, from whence I came.

When you're further west: The North Cascade Highway (WA-20) opened on May 5th. Probably further north than you want to go but it will lead you through the mountains all the way to the 101 which runs right down the coast.

I can recommend Hwy-20 as well. Road most of it last fall with some fellow GS'ers. Your welcome to stop for the night if your on I-5 in the very north of California ( State of Jefferson).

Man, you guys are so good to me!

I ended up staying in Chicago a bit longer than expected. Picked up some work with the Techweek conference on the way through as they needed some help with copywriting and content creation.

Heading over to Joe Nardy's tomorrow night to change the rear tire before I escape the midwest and brave the great divide.

Getting some pretty good pictures so far as well, and got to check in with my old '83 750T which now resides with my buddy here in Chicago.

It's been a blast so far. Did 620 miles the first day, and it was surprisingly easy, even on 90. Loaded a bunch of Science Friday podcasts which helped a lot, but mostly I'm attributing it to the Super Atomic Foam and new seat cover from Sargents.

Just checking in.....Hope you didnt have your troubles on those expressways :twistedevil:. Kudos again to the Chicago guys :dancing:

Actually, I did. Dropped the outside cylinders and spent 3 hours on the side of 90 yesterday before Joe and Baatfam came to the rescue. Took it apart and everything checked out so we buttoned it back up and it started fine. Got to Joe's and changed the tire and took off this morning. Made it back to my buddy's place in Chicago and when I parked it I went to turn it back on to change spots and it's dead. Nothing when I turn the key.

Anyone in Chicago want to buy an 1150? Mechanic's special!

Turned out it was the signal input on the fuse block that went. Bypassed it with a TON of help from George (koolaid_kid). Picking up a spare from Bob (Baatfam) in the morning and then heading west on 88 from there.

Any suggestions on where to land tomorrow night? I've got my tent and sleeping pad with me so I usually just stop and camp when I'm done for the day on trips like this.

Sioux City. Some ominous storms on the horizon. Repairs are holding up well though.

Glad to hear your ride today went as planned, with no unexpected issues... Hope you manage to stay dry, Pal! ;-)

North-west towards Rapid City to see the Badlands next on the agenda and then to Yellowstone?

Indeed. Just ran into a surprise guest. More to follow.

BTW - I meant Sioux Falls, not City.

Badlands is cool but you will want to stay in the Tetons and Yellowstone for a month!

Eric

Unless it kills a good road trip.

It's only 800 miles/day, but with how tonight is going I'm guessing I'll be getting a late start in the morning. I ran into Art Tarian from MotoAdventurePros at a Love's in Sioux Falls. He started talking to me about the 1150 and we went for a ride.

You're a laugh riot, Mike! Now GET TO BED ... you need your rest, young man! :p:D;)

'Nite,
