A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Secondary gear oil replacement-A Pictoral Guide

Mr BassCliff,
Uh-oh I better check it again. When I drained it about 2 months ago it was white-foamy and I first thought it may have had some water mixed with it, but could not find any possible entry for water, no leaks and the breather pipe is still intact, but quite rigid. I then changed the oil and thought that maybe that was normal as I had just ridden it and it was hot and maybe churned up a lot.
Thanks for the feedback.

I do have a pair of Progressive fork springs that I need to install. When I get around to replacing the springs/seals I certainly will document the procedure. Thanks for the suggestion. :-D
Lookin' forward to it!

Once I get my engine issues sorted with these somewhat expensive parts like fuel petcocks and airbox boots (expensive compared to Robert Barr's o-rings, that is) I'll hopefully have a couple of part-purchase-free months to save up for some Progressives.

As long as you keep owning the same bike and reading my mind, the refurbishing process should go pretty smooth. :-D

Hmm... sure enough, the oil separators don't appear on the GS650 fiche.

They do show up on the GS850 fiche, though:
11186-45001
11187-45001

So, does anyone know whether the GS650 is supposed to have these or not? Or should this mystery become a new topic?

I checked with my good friends at Action cycle here is KC and he said yes it is suppose to have them in there so we took some out of a gs 1000 valve cover head he had down there and he GAVE them to me along with some other advise about setting air/fuel screws. I also want to thank Basscliff for his valve adjustment tutorial on his web sight. i just finished mine today and wound up replacing every shim to get them all between 0.05 and 0.07 mm clearance.I had a lot of 2.60 and 2.65x in there.A couple of the exhaust shims had no clearance at all and i wound up going down 0.15mm to get there. Thanks again for the help.
