All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Separating the MEN from the boys (carb)

While it's true that the needle doesn't have much taper, shimming it 2mm has a very noticeable effect on the mixture of an otherwise stock system.

And I've also taken note of teddux's condescending tone.

He's the first (and only) poster on my ignore list.

Worthless trolls should be ignored, not fed....

Yeah, I'm in.

Done, but it took a few seconds to figure out howto use ignore. Maybe I should have googled it.

Went through the idler jet removal thread. Wow. I think we'll have a general consensus soon. +1 for ignore!

P.S. teddux, there's an off-topic forum if you want to rant, keep the ad hominem attacks out of the tech forums.

An apt description for certain. And, IMO, socially acceptable, given the alternative descriptions I would have chosen..:D

Originally, I had used a word to describe him that is a common familiarization of the name "Richard".

OH!!! You mean "Rich"!! Got it ;)

What's with this insufferable TU*D.

He doesn't even have the guts to tell us where he comes from, or even what country he lives in.

Or for that matter what bike he rides. Does he even own a bike.

Hasn't he heard of a signature. Or is he just too DUMB to know how to do it.

I certainly hope he doesn't live in OZ and I would be running the risk of running into him one day (or is that RUN OVER him someday).

If he lived here he would be summonsed to attend a KANGAROO COURT and you all know the end result of that.

No more TEDDUX

Sorry guys. I don't usually rave on the Technical Forum, but somebody should remove this member once and for all.

Hi,

Mr. teddux contacted me and we've shared a couple of PMs about what he may have to offer the community. He may be a bit eccentric but basically a reasonable sort. It seems we (Mr. teddux and us forum members) may have gotten off on the wrong foot. Why don't we try to get to know each other a little better? Someone a lot smarter than I once said "Seek first to understand, then to be understood."

What do you say guys? What do you say Mr. teddux?

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

I will stay a little boy I think... A little boy with 2 perfectly running highly modified motorcycles ;)

I must say you are a strange guy but if you can work out an ignitor & are willing to let others have the recipe I am sure it will be much appreciated.

How do you cope with the later years where the advance curve is electronic rather than mechanical? They are the ones that are hardest to replace.

Dan :)

Waa waaa! Cliff you are too nice sometimes.

WOW...I just tuned in this morning and it seems as though I may have missed a thread or six, not to mention a post or two.

Josh, you're correct. Carb tuning is as much an art form as it is a lesson in science and factory spec.

I'm not sure if he determined the "Who-is-Who" as far as carbs are concerned but I'd be happy to show him a collection of 50+ jets, neatly packed and numbered that fit the many Holley carbs that I've run over the years. Brought them with to the tracks every night. You know how Minnesota can be in the summer time...95 degrees and 10% humidity one night and 50 degrees and with 90% humidity, the next.

It does make a difference, a very notable one, at that... :o

The stock cv carb NEEDLE is virtually STRAIGHT compared to a slide carb. Adjusting it is senseless and mere LUCK if at all semi-successful.
You have made it pretty apparent you either have NO experience tuning stock needles or just don't know what you are doing because I have made MANY bikes run great with stock needles on modified bikes! Come here with useful info & comments or go back to where ever it is you came from & stay there please. Don't try to insult those of us that have experience you don't. Ray.

Griffin is right!!!

Please everyone, let this thread die. No more responses (yes, I get the last word). I'm pretty sure ted is being at least partially misunderstood so no more piling on please.

The only thing he can offer this community, is to be a member who has respect for other members as we ARE REQUIRED TO DO.

respect doesn't include the power trip He is trying to use, nor does it include any "offer to the community" which on it's surface still appears to be a power trip. what product or knowledge He has can be shared, sold or neither, that's entirely up to Him. it doesn't matter to most people on this board if "anyone" has even the slightest bit of helpful information or a full blown replacement for the later ignitors, all members are considered equal. most of the members on this board will go to almost any length to help each other expecting nothing in return. but it sure makes it difficult to help others when someone gets their kicks out of playing some kind of game.

as I see it, the only thing he can offer is respect towards others and up to this point I still haven't seen it.

He has my forgiveness and I pray I have his.

the ball is now in his court.
