All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

shim club

Yes, it is. Contact Ray by sending a PM to ghostgs1.

That screenshot looks familiar, but you need the updated version.
Send me a PM to confirm your e-mail address, I will send it to you.

thanks steve, I sent you an email over the weekend looking for the spreadsheet. I ended up finding one u sent me waaaaaaaay back...

"Waaaaaaaay back"??? :-k

It was only July, 2012. :-\\\

There have been a couple minor revisions since then. :encouragement:

.

I see some new shims needed in my future too :)

What a great resource it is & really nice to be able to custom pick the sizes instead of only the stock offerings!

I know I've seen it while lurking around, but who has the spreadsheet for the shim sizes?

Glad I saw this post. I ran across a half dozen shims in my toolbox yesterday. Since I don't have a GS anymore I'll ping ghostgs1 and see if he wants them for the club.

Nice! I'm about to pull the trigger this week and order my shims. Steve, here is the spreadsheet filled out, gosh that made it easy! (3)2.59's, (1) 2.57, (1)2.63, and (1)2.67

Hi steve,
have sent several PM to ghostgs1 to get started in the club with no response? We want to get valves done next week but need a source for shims.
Any ideas?

If you go to Ray's profile page, you will see that he last signed in to the board a couple of weeks ago. He also has an e-mail address listed, might check that.

If worse comes to worse, you can buy the shims you need (except for the "X" shims) at Z1 Enterprises. Shop carefully, make sure they are 29.5mm shims.

Send me a copy (via e-mail) of your spreadsheet page so I can verify that you will be getting the correct shims.

Does anyone know if the Shim Club is still in operation? I need (2) 2.60 shims for my '82 1100G and am hoping to avoid the online prices.

Online prices aren't crazy these days. I bought a few 25mm's from 4into1 for $8 each. Not bad if you know the sizes and only need a few. Also don't recall if that is the Suzi size or if it was for a different project.

Thanks. I'll look into 4into1. The best price I could find so far has been $13 each and $15 for postage.

Pm me exactly what shims you need and what exact size shims of yours you would like to exchange. I have a pretty good collection, worst case I don't have em.

If Gabriel doesn't cover you I've got some 2.60's. It's best to stock up and plan your next adjustment while gathering shims. Take an inventory and get some smaller sizes than what you have now.
