Guys,

So my bike came with a sissy bar that didn't fit right so I took it off and sold it on eBay. Well, ever since then, the little lady doesn't like riding on the back (and frankly, I don't either. It is uncomfortable with her leaning on me and sliding forward). So I post this question:

Where do I find a sissy bar for my bike? I have no clue where to start. Also, I don't even have the little bar that wraps the seat around. Even that would be nice. I can't find one though.

Any leads would be great.

Ebay.

Or a cycle salvage yard.

My personal preference in for KG Engineering bar and/or luggage rack. They sell for about the same now as they did new, 30 years ago. They are made that well. KG sissy bars came in two heights. The tall one was available in a fixed position model, and as a model that could be slid forward or backward. There were only a few sizes, with fit-kits and adjustments used to match them to particular bikes. Any one that comes off of a 750 or large bike would likely fit yout 850, after some work.

You can (or used to be able to) put a search into Ebay, to be notified by email when something you want becomes available.

Do you still have the rack on your bike, perchance?

On most setups I've seen, the sissy bar bolts to a K&G rack. So if that's what you have, then finding a sissy bar will be easy. Heck, there's one sitting in my garage right now.

There were a couple of other brands of racks out there back in the '80s (they're all long gone -- no one makes racks for old bikes any more), but basically you need the rack in order to bolt on the sissy bar.

If you're not sure what you have, post a photo and The GSR Hive Mind should come up with an answer pretty quickly.

No, I no longer have the rack. It didn't bolt on right and messed with the turn signals. The sissy bar slid into the luggage rack part, but even in it's full back position, it was too far forward. I'm starting from scratch here.

I don't think an 550 rack would fit an 850. It may not be wide enough

That looks almost identical to the one that I took off my bike that didn't fit right.
