    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Slingshot to GS1150 caliper swap

I have heard more than once that '88-on GSXR "slingshot" calipers were a direct if inadvertent bolt-on to GS1150 forks. Is this true? And if not, does such a bolt-on conversion exist short of Beringers?

I read years ago that 1st gen gsxr calipers are a bolt on........they aren't..

I see that you're new here...hows bout an intro and a pic of the 1150. As a fellow 1150 owner I like to see them......:cool:

As much as I appreciate the curiosity, I'm really looking for some help on improving the braking on this machine. As soon as I can get a handle on that I can think about peripherals like pictures. Thanks for the interest. By the way, a Slingshot isn't a "1st gen gsxr"...it's second generation. I own an '86 GSXR. That's "1st gen".

Can anyone help me with my question(s), i.e. are there bolt on 4/6 piston calipers from other Suzukis that will fit the GS1150? Anyone tried Beringer or like calipers on this machine without changing forks, which I do not want to do?
 
That's the spirit Spirt. I'm glad you at least corrected your first post in your second post . Despite that you really know how to ingratiate yourself.
 
Yes, im aware of the differences between first and second gen gsxrs. I Suppose that I should have been more specific.....
Have you upgraded your brake lines? That made a big difference on mine.

I went to better brake lines right away and HH pads. Better, but not what I'm looking for. I want really better, which will as far as I have seen up to now require more pistons acting on the disc. I have seen GS1100's with Beringers since the late 70's, but always on fabricated mounts which I'm not against as long as the same people that make the calipers make the mounts. I swapped calipers on my Harley XLCR years ago to 4 piston PM's and it is a whole new world. I just can't believe that everyone who has upgraded braking on an 1150 has changed forks to get there...but so far, no joy on that. My interim try will be resurfaced or new rotors and new brake pads. But I still know Big Red needs at least 4 pistons up front.....
 
Check member Civirock. He has an 1100e with a 1150 front end with later (gsxr i think) wheels and brakes.

People have been upgrading 1150 forks for years. They are some of the widest triples and will fit 17x3.5" front wheels. Very popular upgrade.
 
Way to go in making friends, spirit. You want help, come in humble, because this place is full of those who can school you-or educate you. You say you want WAY better brakes but you aren't willing to do a fairly simple fork swap. Mixed message if you truly want amazing brakes on your 1150. The stock brakes with braided lines and the right pads will stop these things very well, but if you want to do stoppies on the spindly forks you have, you may want to ask yourself what you really want.
