Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I can find a lot of info about "jet kits" and various stages, but kits are kind of a rip off. Can't find much on sizes.

Anyone know off hand what the stock jetting is for a 1979 GS750E?

Suggestions for jet sizes with pods and an open exhaust?

Go to the top of this forum. The very first "sticky" is one about carb jetting.
There is no rhyme or reason to the order, so you will have to look, but it's there.

Suggestions for "pods and open exhaust"? Call Dynojet, order a Stage 3 for your bike. It's already been figured out so you don't have to.

.

searched through that thread...maybe my key words weren't right, I don't know...but I found nothing for my particular model and carbs.

And why would I want to spend $125 on a dynojet kit when I can spend $30 on jets and shims and have the same thing? Quite frankly, you don't have to answer people's questions...but you don't have to waste their time, either.

OK, since you couldn't find it, I took all of THREE MINUTES to scroll through and find it for you.

Are the '78 models close enough to your '79? You will find information for those in post #32.
For a more comprehensive listing, look in post #43.

Hopefully that did not waste any more of YOUR time.

Wow!..............

I'll add a wow.... That's how you get people to help you, be a b-hole to them....

It's the standard answer (dynojet kit), because it's going to be 90% to 95% right out of the box. The alternative is endless plug chops and pulling your carbs 27 times. I'd rather spend the money.

You get that engine rebuilt already?
Wow, that was quick!
You must be a master fvcking mechanic.

Shoot, I've pulled my carbs 27 times with a Dynojet kit.

Because I wanted to. ;-)
With all the messing around I've done with this bike I've had to rejet numerous times. Especially switching to 1150 carbs. NOW that was fun. Bike runs GREAT now though so it was worth it.

They DONT make a kit for the 79 750, or any 750 before 80. You WILL have to jet by hand. I KNOW what jets you need, the needle positions and the like, but since you seem to be a bit of a jerk, I'll let you figure it out for yourself....

I noticed that with this guy on another thread. Seems like lately there've been four or five new guys who come on here, demand answers to basic questions, and when they don't like the answers they get, get sh!tty with people.

I guess it's just a reflection of the times we live in....

Do you use a stubby or right-angle driver (or both) for the float bowl screws?
I have a driver that is long enough to get the tops off.

.

Same little bit holder that I use for the fuel screws underneath, but with a Phillips bit. The little finger drivers or whatever it's called, like a little wheel that holds a bit. If I'm going to do it often, I use Allen head screws, makes it literally a five minute job to change all the main jets.

And for the needle clips, Allens on the top cover and on the screws inside the slides, have a foot long T handle driver for those. Still takes a bit of dexterity to get the needles back in, but it's easier than pulling the carbs.

There are pleanty of posts on it...The search function works GREAT...it *shouldnt* be TOO hard for him to find it...

there are lots of posts on it. thousands come back as search results. after looking for a little while and only seeing references to dynojet kits and such, nothing about the actual jetting, I thought I would ask. Had I expected this BS I would have kept guessing...like I've had to do with every other issue I've brought to you people (other than cylinder order. this forum had no problem answering that question...go figure).

I'm only on my 4th or 5th. I did have a proud moment last night though as I spent the last several days doing a total tear down and dip with o-ring replacement, a new slide and repair to the diaphragm on a couple other slides. About 2 minutes on prime, pull the choke, second crank it started, sputtered for a sec then ran great. My first carb teardown. Whoo Hoo!

I'd add, that's mostly because you and I are chasing that 5 % to 10% because we're freaks where most people would just say. Wow, it runs great.

Yeah, I know what you mean. There have been times that the needle just does NOT want to go through the hole in the jet, and has to be pushed into place with a finger in the intake. THAT would be kinda hard to do by snaking something through the airbox.
