I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hello,
None of my local stores have the spark plugs suggested for my 80'GS450.
Can anyone tell me if any of these would work?
Autolite Spark Plugs -ASP 4054
Iridium IX -NGK 5044
How can I tell if a spark plug will fit?
Are the "performace" spark plugs better? Thanks,
DG

No idea about the Iridium plug, but you probably don't want to waste your money, anyway.

The Autolite 4054 is one that cross references for the NGK B8ES.

.

Hi,

Seriously? Nobody carries an NGK B8ES? Just order them from Z1 or someplace similar for a couple bucks each. I'd stay away from the hotter Iridium plugs and such. That's wasted money. Otherwise, Autolite 4054 (or 4063), Champion N2C, Denso W24ES-U, or AC/Delco 42XL should suffice.

A big spark plug cross-reference here: http://www.angelfire.com/extreme4/skidoolympique/SPARK_PLUG_CROSS_REFERENCE.htm

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

You need to go to a bike shop (no, a Harley is not a bike) and not a car shop to get the NGKs. Car shops only carry car plugs (ask me how I know).
The fancy plugs are not worth the extra money. Someone at Cummins participated in an evaluation of all the different types of plugs, cheap to very expensive. No discernable difference in either performance or plug life.

Things must be a bit different west of me in Indianapolis. :-k

I get my spark plugs at Auto Zone and Pep Boys. :o

Yep, pretty much all the national chains in my area have NGKB8ES. It's such a common bike plug.

Advance Auto Parts had the correct plugs local to me.

Stick with stock type copper plugs from NGK.. I have purchased several defective Autolite plugs before / cracked etc. Not to say that NGK can't make a defective spark plug, but I've done thousands of tune ups - always good luck with NGK brand.

You don't say where you're from, but my local VIP Auto has the NGK B-8ES plugs (pretty common plug but Walmart doesn't stock them!) in stock for $2.19/ea. I agree with others, why waste your money for more expensive plugs?

thanks everybody. I found it, the only suto store aroudn that had it was pep boys

When I bought my back last fall it had the NGK B8EV which is $12 per at my local motorcycle shop. Is there any risk of damage running the B8ES versus running the B8EV?

Friggin sweet. More beer money for while im working on it. Much appreciated.

12 per plug? that is insane.
do they change em for that price?

Even at that, still too much.
Although there is an ebay seller selling(or trying to) them for outrages prices. But only to buyers with more money than sense. Or is it since?

I work at an auto parts store and we stock B8ES's. I have even bought a set of the iridiums and got the store discount, $5.50 each. Whereas there normally around $10 each.

I got yelled at in a Carquest last year that they didn't stock bike plugs, despite the full rack of NGK B8ES plugs right behind the beardy little turd doing the yelling.. I suddenly didn't feel like spending any money there, and I haven't been back.

Autozone doesn't carry NGK, but pretty much everyone else does. Most can look up motorcycle plugs for you, too. Save the box tab with the stocking number -- that's what they'll need to find the plugs. They usually don't know how to look up "B8ES" -- "2411" is the number they need.

For you 16 valve folks with the skinny D8EA plugs, the stock number is 2120. These are pretty common as well.

plugs are plugs....
cross them over to what ever is cheapest or in stock...
champion/autolite/bosch...
there's no black magic unless you get it in your head that ones better than the other.
how about those splitfires...hahhaha:rolleyes:
