    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

spoked wheels for a 650

Offhand, the only spoked wheels I recall on a Zuk shafty were on the 1200 and 700 Madura. Rare as hen's teeth now, and whether they'll fit the 650 anyway...
Saying that, a couple of people on here fitted them to 850s and 1000s as far as I recall.
 
okay so heres what i found

suzuki madura tire and brake specs specs

front 110/80 H19
rear 140/80 H16

front 2x280mm discs
rear 1x168mm disc

suzuki gs650 tire specs

front 90/90 19
rear 130/90 16
front 1x275mm disc
rear 1x275 disc


i know you can up or downsize your tire size by 1 and i already run a 100/90 on my front and it doesnt rub at all, so downsizing the madura front to a 100 doesnt seem to be an issue with fitment, aswell as downsizing the rear by one even though i could run a 140 on my 650.

so with the brakes, i dont know if they have the same pattern for the bolts and im not sure exactly how to find that, and the madura does run two discs on the front but i have a single front brake and i honestly owuld like to keep it that way, as for the size of the discs, would those only affect fitment if say i had a different front end giving the front brake a different placement, or is it somehting else i need to worry about.

would there be a weight advantage with spoke wheels, or any advantage other than looks for that matter?


last but not least? does this sound doable based on these specs or is there not enough research done yet to confirm it would work?

FYI A GS450A automatic trans model came with a wire spoke shaft drive rear wheel... But I'm guessing it was a drum break, I can't remember it's been many years since I saw one. And the drum would probably be a bit small for middleweight 650.
The Madura wheels would definitely be the ticket.
 
Are not the same spoke count as a GS wheel though, I believe they are 40 spokes? So you have to either run the stock Madura rim or aftermarket.
 
i think im actually gonna stay stock with the direction im going, the spoked wheels look great but for the styling im doing the mags are staying.

painting is time consuming

cant wait until the bike is done, theres gonna be some hate that i kinda deserve but im just doing what i would like to.
 
The hub on the Madura 1200 wheel is really wide compared to the GS hub, easier to swap complete front end. I have fitted Madura wheel on a GS1000L, maybe 12 year ago. For the rear I only had to modify the caliper torque arm and mix the GS and Madura wheel spacers.
