I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Need source for stainles steel (SS), studs for exhaust. Anyone know where I can get 8 MM X 1.25 X 60 mm SS studs ? None of the SS bolt suppliers can get them for me. The longest they can supply is 50 mm. Zinc is somewhat rust resistant but at grade 5 isn't hard enough. grade 8 (black) will rust badly. SS is what I need but can't find them in the length I need. Any help is appreciated, and thanks.

I got a nice set of studs for bike exhaust from NAPA. Not SS but they were pretty good.

Yes, McMaster-Carr has them.

http://www.mcmaster.com

They ship FAST, and the shipping charges are quite reasonable. I love buying stainless bling from McMaster-Carr. :D

I don't think they have the studs, but another good source for stainless gewgaws is: http://boltdepot.com

The nice part is that you can order whatever quantity you want. With McMaster, most fasteners come in packages of a certain fixed quantity (10, 25, 50, or 100) which may be far more than you need.

only problem with bolt depot is the fixed shipping for small orders. I like to order a mess of stuff at once through them to make it worth not going down to the local hardware store

Just curious why you need grade 8 for fastening into aluminum.

I don't think anyone mentioned grade 8 -- just 8mm diameter was needed for the exhaust studs.

And besides, stainless fasteners are not graded.

Stainless steel is very strong and hard, but it is somewhat more brittle than steel. Stainless is not suitable for brake or suspension fasteners, or for applications where the "stretch" of the fastener is a factor, like the bolts that hold the upper and lower case halves together.

Other than that, my bikes are pretty much covered in stainless...:D

I prefer to use SS studs for the exhaust is because SS will not rust or corrode. Will always look good. I use studs for the exhaust because I have pulled more threads than I care to remember. And yes...I use an inch lb, wrench. The PO's did not. OK ??

Just a comment you may find helpfull ......

While good quality stainless steel wont corrode the ally its going into will still oxidise (heat & damp causes eloctrolisis) so to prevent problems later on any steel fixing into ally should always be treated with a small smear of anti sieze compound such as copperslip, lots easier than drilling out a snapped stainless bolt in a years time ;)

tone :)

Yes, stainless into aluminum always, always, always gets a good coat of anti-seize.
