    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey Guys,

First question placed here but love reading the replys. Ok here we go.
1983 GS750ES All stock except for a R/R Yesterday a did somthing different I was standing next to my bike when I pull in the cluch hit the starter. Next thing I know the bike now rolls foward picking up the side stand & I find myself very occwardly (sp) blancing the bike hoping it wont fall. I have never started it not in nutral . Still with the clutch engaged why would the bike lurch foward. Or is this normal.

Just about everytime you start the bike cold the tranny and clutch will do that the first time the clutch is disengaged.
 
Yeap that's normal on a cold GS bike or a bike that been sitting for awhile. My bike does it everyday like clockwork.
 
I had a similar thing, old 850 that hasn't run in years, changed the oil and got it started, and in first with the clutch in it spins the tire just enough to bog the engine if the brake is on.

I figured it would break free in the clutch after a bit of actual riding, and it felt fine when I rode it around the block...
 
Start it in neutral while fiddling with the choke. Once it is running smooth put it in gear and ride away.
 
Hold the front brake real tight, open the throttle half way and let the clutch out. the resulting tire smoke will be entertaining while you heat up the oil in the engine.

Sounds good to me but I dont think my starter has that much tork.
 
my bike does the same thing, if you have a center stand use it.
i think most of the GS bikes have one. if not make sure the bike is in neutral
sit on the bike pull the clutch in hold the front brake and start the bike, warm thie bike up and adjust the clutch cable. if the clutch still sticks pull that sucker apart clean the disks REOIL, change the oil and reasymble
 
Exercise the clutch lever 4-5 times on cold starts will help. Be sure there's about 2-3 mm of slack/play at the lever pinch point. No more.
20/50 oil will also worsen the condition. 10/40 will help, as long as that's what your (Suzuki) manual calls for.
 
I am trying Mobile 1 0W-40W right now and the cold weather operation is superb. The gearbox shifts well and the clutch feels the same cold and hot. Best oil I found so far.
