A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Does anyone know what other stators will interchange with a 1985 GS700ES ?

Looking like my budget is more in the "used" than "new" range. :)

That stator looks exactly like the model(G2) i purchased from "Electrex" 9 years ago.is it the same unit? i was thinking mine wasn't going to work.if this unit,is the same has my G2 unit,i'm going to install it.anyone offer an answer on this? Thanks!!

Hi,

The pictures aren't always of the actual product. But if you check the list you will see that the same stator is used on a lot of different GS bikes.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Ok now I am confused/worried.

On the Electrosport site it says these all use the same stator,

but on Rick's site they have different P/N's for the 85 GS700 and 83/85 GS550. I didn't look for Ricks site till after I did a Buy it now on EBay for a new GS550 Stator based on the info from the Electrosport site that a local shop was selling on ebay for 79.99 .
Does anyone know for sure that the 83-86 550 stator will work on the 85 700?

Hi,

The part number variations are probably because of the specific connectors and rubber grommets used on specific bikes. My experience with Electrosport and RMStator; you get the bare stator. Then you install your own connectors and re-use the grommets.

Picked it up today its a Rick's stator. Not bad for $80 ($85 with tax) I think.:D

Hi,

Nope, not bad. It's easy to spend $100-$140 or more for a stator, before shipping and tax. Good going.

Well it's back together and charging:D The upper end is 14.6volts hope thats not too much, the battery was at 12.1 when I started it if that matters.

Thank you very much BassCliff, your tutorial helped greatly and made it easy to figure out what to do:clap:
