Hi,
I am looking for any high resolution photos of the tank and tailpiece which shows the stripes clearly. Preferably from a bike that is in Marble LeMans Blue, obviously the 1980 GS1000G.
If anyone has any details on spraying this colour it would be appreciated as well, as I will have to have it mixed over here and there is no chance that any of our paint suppliers have the formula.
Much appreciated.:)

Dan,
It looks very close. My blue has a slightly white cloudy affect in the background, I assume that is the "marble". How to spray and mix that is still not clear, but hopefully someone will be able to advise how to get that affect.
I was under the impression that the Marble Lemans Blue only came out in 1980, but not sure.
One of your pictures shows the tank stripes and it seems to coincide with a hazy picture I have from another bike. Is yours still original paint?
Would it be an inconvenience to take some closeups of the tank, sidecovers and tailpiece?
I really appreciate it.:)
Thanks

I hope that I am not interfering with your questions Matchless.

Salty,
do you have pictures of the underside of the tank, around the coil area?
what I'm asking is, does it look like a bluish-white, or a very light-blue base paint, in the area not covered by the main color, on the underside of the tank.

I can't take pics at the moment as I'm out of the country but I can likely do something late next week.

My tank is the same colour on the underside that it is on the outside.

Yes it's definitely still original paint. It is a 1980.

Cheers,

Dan :)

No problem, no rush at all! When you are back and have the time.

RustyBronco suspects that the first layer could be lighter blue leaning towards a white to give the Marble effect, but we could not see it clearly on the sidecovers.

I think you may have a rare colour there.
Thanks and very much appreciated.:)

would any one have a 250, 450, 1100e 80-81'ish with "original" marble lemans blue paint. that could possibly have the paint scanned at a paint supplier, for the color formula?
it would be much appreciated.

My wife's 1980 GS550L is a medium blue. I don't know if it "Marble LeMans Blue" or not, but it is the original paint.

I'll see if I can find out what color Suzuki called that scheme on the '80 550L and let you know if it's the same. I could have a local DuPont automotive supplier scan it this week no problem.

Edit: Here's a pic of it.

Just checked BikeBandit. They list the color for the GS550L as "Marble Ontario Blue".

Sorry.

Griffin,
your paint code is close 08h, what is needed is 08d. But I THANK you for looking and trying to help.

Yes, Salty_monk did inquire, but unfortunately it's about $120 a pint + shipping. he can get it mixed locally for MUCH less.

Is mine the Ontario too?? Andre has pics of all the stripes now.

Dan :)
Dan, yours is the correct color! and the stripe pictures you have provided are also, what was needed.

The sad thing is, I had Andre's side covers in my hands, before he knew that was the colour he wanted, and my wife works at a body shop that uses PPG paints. I could have had it scanned before they were shipped. :( :(

after finding them with the emblems, there is to much at risk to ship them back and forth.

Can your MRS place do a touch up tin of paint cheaper or same than those other guys matched to a side cover or Fender or something? They are quoting $18 plus P&P I think for a touch up pen...

If so I could likely Fedex a sidecover & have you Fedex back to me with some paint, kill 2 birds with one stone.

Less likely to get lost domestically & on a Fedex...

Dan :)

Dan,
I think the smallest my wife's shop can mix is 2 oz. it might able to be done as a "government" job shall we say. :)
lets wait and see if anyone comes up with the ability to get theirs scanned first. but if it cannot be accomplished, and it will help Andre get his needed paint formula, we might just have to do it that way.
I still would hate to see yours get lost or damaged.

Dale

matchless, you are aware that different markets got different paint and decals schemes, right?

have a look at bruno, although it's been refinished the decals are authentic

not sure what your market got as options, though

I could not find anything yet that gives the specific colour schemes that we got in the RSA. The colour scheme that I want to go for is the marble lemans blue and the striping as per saltymonks OEM example which was authentic for my GS's model in the USA. It is quite possible that we also got some of those but have not been able to varify yet.

Bruno looks very good and has a nice scheme as well.

simple bump...
anyone else that may have a bike in marble lemans blue?
