A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

seems I saw a graph one time that had a grey shaded area showing the RPM and Hp peaks this shaded are was labeled the power band.
Seems it was in a bike magazine but I can't remember

I know exactly what you are saying (that im being a bit of a prick with this 'points of law stuff';-)) and it would correct for you to say "My bikes powerband is between about 6000 and 8500 RPMs".

Band of Power, Comes on Cam at, Range of power, The big nad's kick in at....It's all the same thing really.

Whats wrong is to believe a "Factory Built Powerband System" is whats making your bike pull harder at those revs ;-)

Wow what a freekin genius, AM feeling quite intelligent right about now :-D

the power band system i rember that one real well. its when you use rubberbands to hold the playing card in the spokes to make that motor sound. the biger the band the more snap to the card and you get a biger motor.

when I was young I had a shwinn harley rubberband system!!I wonder if he is a used car salesman?

I reread the ad and started to feel bad. IMHO this is some youngster in love with his dreams of his "special" bike. He's probably a lot more naive than full of "it". Someone may have mentioned something about Power Band and it meant a lot to him. I'm just feeling sorry for him now.

I know, it's like trying to talk sense to my 16 year old son. Seems somewhere along the line he has decided he knows everything and I'm just a dumb a**.

I used to tie balloons between the bike frame and spokes to get that powerband rumble on my bicycles. The more balloons you tied on the meaner it sounded.

Who is selling that bike, a 7 year old kid????? (or is the kid better at spelling than his father)?

I just want to know where you can buy those "factory power bands" cause I want one!!! They come in 2 sizes: short and long, depending on what type of racing you are doing. I also remember you have to be carefull, because when the powerbands break, they leave a NASTY welt mark on the inside of your leg (especially if you are wearing shorts)

When I was 13 I had a KX80 with a powerband. I couldn't ever find where they hid it in the engine though.

The comments he's made about only 6 being registered in 1996 would suggest he's owned the bike for around 10 years. I put him at 30+.

There are tons of those bikes over here so there would have been way more than 6 in a country of 4 million people.
There could perhaps have been only 6 of that model registered i suppose but its the most common model so I cant see that being true??

KEEP CHECKING BACK, HE's STILL ANSWERING PEOPLES QUESTION's!!

I tried to register with the site he has the aucton on but you have to put up money. I was going to explain to him what a powerband really is but what's the point.

Yeah exactly, He's stupid and he doesnt know it.
Instead of backing down he's painted himself into a corner, things have turned ugly and he's ruined his chances of selling his bike.
The smart move would have been to say to the guy telling him his specs were wrong in the first place, "Hey thanks for the advice about the features (Carbs etc), I dont know much about that stuff so someones put me a bit crook there. All bidders take note and bid accordingly"

A bit of honesty goes a long way.
