Hey FC I've been following along with your build so far and love what your doing here. My question to you is how do the Club Man bars feel when your riding. I'm about to start my cafe build on a 82 450TXz. I will be riding it alot so I want it to be comfortable so I was looking at those bars or something along the drag or sportbike bars. Thanks Zay

Damn. Been hittin' the gym?
HA! Actually, I used a giant wrench with way too much leverage :o. That's all I had laying around. Fear not! I have another float bowl drain screw on the way!

I'm 5' 8" and the clubman bars work good for me. It's OK right now but rear sets and a seatpad would help a lot! My second choice of bars would be the superbike bend. Not too low but not too high either. A lot of the guys love them here.

Be sure to post up progress on your bike :D.

My riding jacket got here today too :).

Superbikes are the shizzy.

Cours thats on my 1100 but super comfy with the right amount of forward lean th keep that sporty feel. Sry fc for the jack

Did a little shopping around for a drain plug. They're all around $7 but shipping was always like $20 just for a little plug and it would take two weeks for delivery! Screw that! How about Z1 Enterprises? :)

I've been chatting with some forum members here and evidently, the GS450 carburetor shares a few parts with the VM carbs such as the VM29. The float bowls are of the VM style and jets too. Hmmm.... Anyways, got one on the way :). I hope it gets here before the end of this week

Where's the Paint?!

Where's the Paint?!

Oi!! I leave the world of civilization and go camping for a long weekend, I expect to get back on here and see some paint!!

Seriously though, keep working on it, bummer about that broken screw. The old aluminum gets really soft and it's quite easy to shear bolts. I did that to my rear brake banjo bolt. PITA to find a new one without using the internet. lol

Your making good progress though and riding the bike is a step in the right direction. Even just for a bit

So that's where you've been. You come back and see a pink gas tank LOL!

I already ordered the screw from Z1 Enterprises and hopefully it will get here at least by next Wednesday. And hopefully I can spray the paint... Presentations are very soon...

I can't ride or even start the bike up without it, and it is very crucial in my presentation!

Yeah a running bike might be needed to "make the grade"
Correct. Which is why I'm going crazy over here PM'ing everyone for a drain screw .

I got a question. Who has dealt with Z1 before? Do they have parts in stock? Or do they order from a dealer then ship it to the customer? I sent Z1 an email this same question as well...

I just got a bolt from a hardware store myself..
No, this is a special bolt. Don't think the hardware store would have it.

Anyways, just got an email from Z1. Very fast response, by the way.

"
Hi Allen, we try to keep everything in stock. Only if we say we are out of stock on the description will we be out of them ? and when that happens we don?t allow you to order the part?

We do have these in stock ? over 40 in stock as of this morning.

Cheers, Jeff
"
Thought you guys might want to know the above.

And I just got a tracking number. I should get it this week :). So far, I'm really liking Z1 Enterprises.

Here's just a few places where I can mount a camera. Lots of cool angles .

The gauges are far less intrusive like that. What's the plan for the idiot lights?

Since I live and work in the Seattle area... I'm going to have to arrange to go see this bike in person one of these days. This is too fun, and too KOOL!!

I'd love to see how it feels to sit on the bike with bars like that.

That's easy.

Can you see the two holes for the pilot box? I'm just going to stick my green and red LED lights in there. Or maybe I'll drill some holes higher up. But again, I will eventually get an Acewell.

Cool! Bring your GS850G over too . I've never really seen another GS up close before lol.

Got the screw. Who would have thought that a drain plug from a VM29 is exactly the same as a BS34's drain plug?
