Suzuki GT750 Water Buffalo Smoker Modified

Forearms like Popeye are a small price to pay for making sure you get ALL the power when you want it.
Multi-tasking with a tool...excellent!

Yup always happy to see more pic's of this beast, and to see you enjoying her to the fullest :D

The 2013 Indianapolis Moto GP was a special year for our beloved Suzuki's celebrating 50 years in the US.

My father flew in from CA to ride my GS1100 G Cooley Custom (viperG) while my son rode my Katana 1000S, and I bombed along on my GT 750 Sport Cafe. We rode roughly 500 miles for the trip. We watched practice and did the track lap Friday on our three vintage Suzukis. On Saturday we were at the Cycle World Rolling Concourse with 150 other vintage bikes. We had 3 generations riding my Suzuki's for the weekend, Grandfather (66), father (44 me) & son (21).

My classic Katana ready at the show after Rolling.

82 1100G Cooley Custom AKA ViperG that I have had since I was 19. I finished the mods in 1997.... 40,000 miles later... While the Katana gets lot's of love.

Bad Buffalo flexing some Suzuki Smoker muscle in the modified class.

Bad Buffalo getting the once over.

A guy from Suzuki asked us to bring the bikes down to the Suzuki Tent to put in the USA Suzuki 50th anniversary historical time-line for Sunday.

My 1976 GT750 Water Buffalo. As many of you know my GT750 representation "Bad Buffalo" is slightly different from the original 1972 J model on the time-line wall. I have owned both and assure you my current set-up is more fun to ride and just as reliable (more so) than the original. My buddies original, low milage, running RE5 next to my Buffalo. His exact model represented on the Suzuki wall behind the bike with Cycle World cover pictorial.

I love the Cycle World quote on the wall here, as if it were written for Bad Buffalo.

Very nice, love seeing all your bikes!

Nice to see the photos with HD's Honda 750 over on DTT too...

I am 6 feet tall. The Buffalo went on a diet and lost about 100 pounds during its transformation. I have not measured the seat height yet but I will. The bike feels and looks little for a 750. The modern suspension and running gear with 17" wheels make it handle like a modern bike and look really low. Actually, I have not had any clearance problems or drug any parts while using all of the Michelin Pilot Powers outer grip.

That is one sweet looking motorcycle! But then I've always liked what you produce-I had your Cooley replica as my desktop photo for quite a while a few years ago. :)

So my riding buddy and I went to the inaugural Kentucky Kickdown. Louisville was crawling with vintage cafes, bobbers, brats & choppers and many classic, original two wheeled machines. The event was held between Barrett Bar & The Monkey Wrench.

XS650 Rat in foreground with Bad Buffalo. The XS650 was one of the most interesting bikes at KKD.

Coyote BSA with a nice original Benelli in background.

One of the many fine Hondas present.

Harris Framed KZ1000 racer.

Fine 750 chopper.

Another prime XS.

Seeley Honda Cafe.

My personal favorite of the show... Triumph

1975 RE5 in background.

A short video walk-around of The Kentucky Kickdown 2013 to view all the two wheeled eye candy. For a first year event it was really quite well attended.

We did the Big Sid Memorial ride winding through the Kentucky hills and ending down by the river. Big Sid's son rode the famous "Vincati" built by Sid as seen in the shadows of the foreground.

The Vincati. I wasat a rally in So Cal some yeas ago and there were a couple Egli Vincents. Cool stuff. Thanks for the photos.

viperg, I 'm sorry of all the bikes you posted , your modded smoker is the coolest in my eyes. That thing is "sick" and I bet a barrel of fun to ride.

Thanks hj,

You are correct the modded GT 750 is a barrel of fun to ride. I a have a few different bikes and the fun factor for me is the highest on that damn smokey, water buffalo, beast.

Combat,

Here are a couple more of the Vincati. Also, in the pic taken by the river there is a black Egli Vincent next to the Vincati. As you can see, the Vincati was Big Sid's idea of mating a Vincent motor to a Ducati frame.

So my November 2013 issue of Cycle World arrived and to my surprise I found myself, my son and my father all in the CW Rolling Concourse cover story photo leaving the Pagoda at Indy for the rolling portion of the show. Three generations of Suzuki riders from my family represented in this pic... Grandfather, son, grandson.

Page 40 of Cycle World November 2013

Upper left in back on my Blue 1976 GT750 (Me), 1982 Katana (son), upper left blue/white viperG 1982 GS1100 (Dad).

The Indy Pagoda in the early morning light with the sun coming up is a sight to behold!

It's dirty. It's loud. It's oily. Gas milage worse than my truck. It smokes... A LOT. But it is so F'n fun to ride.

The Buffalo emerges from it's winter slumber.

Gt750

Very cool. The GT750 is on my wish list and looking at your bike keeps it on the list. Good job.

Don't wait too long.

Prices are rising.
More & more of them are in the hands of collectors that will only part with them after you pry the keys out of their cold dead hands.

I have GOT to get mine back on the road! Now that I'm unemployed I finally have some free time. Maybe I'll be riding it this Summer after all.
