A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Tesla Autopilot VS Motorcycles

this Bloomberg article explains why autonomous ( sp) driving is quite the crock (after estimates of close to 100 billion dollars having been thrown at the challenge)

and Musk knows this but still refers to the concept being just around the corner. (he really is displaying some charlatan moves, of late.)

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/feat...ars-are-going-nowhere?leadSource=uverify wall

(ie they're figuring out that homo sapien is not such a bad driver after all!)

edit: I read this forwarded article a couple of times before being asked for subscription ...my apologies for any paywalls encountered.

Only you know what Musk giving you back your Twitter account really means, and you have to be honest with yourself. You don't have to tell anyone here, but just so you know. :)

I've seen some people in Tesla's really driving like idiots, about the same ratio as BMW drivers. To be honest, most I've seen, you wouldn't know the difference, they drive quite normally, and even seem to be driving a bit slower, trying to conserve battery power.. I don't trust auto driving though, on any vehicle. When you get plowed into, it's one more level of deniability, and who gets charged, the idiot who was sleeping and says he was relying on the automatic system to not drive over the motorcycles or people in front of them, instead of just pushing the brake pedal? They should have their own lane, put a slot in the road, with the car pegged into it, and let the Gub.'ment drive them around till they feel adult enough to drive on their own.IMHO. ;)

Just search "Tesla autopilot motorcycle" and be prepared to be worried about what's behind you.

This vid is sensationalist.
the guy suggesting we weave is absurd. I've done that for years. It sales people up.
also statistically the deaths mentioned are insignificant.

Unless you happen to be one of the people killed.

Situational awareness is important at every hour of the day, every day.

That said, no matter how we may wish it to be otherwise, even the most dedicated riders are not totally aware 100% of the time.

Many years ago I learned the value of always knowing what was in my mirrors as well as beside me or ahead of me. .

What was in the mirrors led to my choosing not to stop for red lights, stop signs and crosswalks on multiple occasions..
In those cases, the mirrors were effectively very loud voices telling me "You WILL be hit from behind ". and then the voices were proven right, as the vehicle behind me also went through the same signs, lights or crosswalks.

Even being aware of such things, you can still be nailed from behind, as I was when stopped on an exit ramp behind a truck at a red light, and with semi-trailers stopped on each side of me.

Because of the curve and the trailer in the left lane being so far back, the mirrors could not "see" the car that hit me, .
