A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • This forum is for placing reviews for parts, accessories, gear and service as it relates to your GS motorcycle. The key here is "GS Related". There is a bit of latitude here but we don't want to see a review on Maytag washers just because that's what you use to clean your riding jacket in.

Keep your review as factual as possible and please refrain from personal attacks. Posted articles will be reviewed by the Editors and may be removed at their discretion.

So let's make this a useful addition to the forum! A special pat on the back goes to Hap Call for coming up with this great idea.

The views expressed in this forum are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of "The GSResources" or the editors.

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Yes folks,
There is an affordable scientific instrument to aid that frustrating chore-Idle Mixture Setting! The Colortune is simply a spark plug with a clear top. This is so you can see what color the fire is inside the combustion chamber. Blue is right, yellow is too rich and light blue is too lean.
Finally a clue!

the colortune was pretty much a must when I did the carbs on my V65. Worked on the GS650 great too. Well worth the money.!!Buy the morgan carbtune at the same time and you will like tweaking your carbs. Is that sad that I get joy from having the carbs tuned perfectly, my woman say I have issues.

+ 10 Plus 10 for the colortune. I use it on every bike and love the thing. It really makes sense when trying to figure out the best mixture setting.

I have really found it to be helpful with CV carbs. I have seen bikes that were firing but not getting the right amount of fuel and the mixture screw just needed to come out a little more to get a consistant blue. Anyone that says to set the screws all the same on CV carbs needs to buy one of these tools. My .02:D

I'm going to list one, which is just as good as new, in the 'parts' portion of the forum.

I've used the motionpro carb tune tool and it works ok, but I'm not particularly happy with it. After reading yet another review of the Morgan products, I placed an order today for the carbtune, case, and the colortune with 10, 12, and 14mm plugs. Total cost shipped is 117 pounds, or about $163, direct from the U.K. factory. So I have a lightly used motionpro for sale if somebody wants to pm me with an offer. It works fine, it's just that I want a better carb tuning tool.

I own both a colortune and the carbtune could not be happier.Makes tuning so simple a caveman could do it:p

I've had my original Colourtune for 30 plus years (I think - I can't remember being without it) and it still works fine every time. Real simple (so ideal for me) and I wouldn't be without it.

You spelled it wrong. :D

Go on Bruce - next time you'll be going all Dan Quayle on me and telling us there's an 'e' in potato...

(And I bet you can't say aluminium).
When I was in school back in the dark ages we were taught it was okay to put an E on the end of potato and tomato. I'm not sure when it became wrong. I guess when Quayle did it.
