    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

FINALLY!!! Thanks for the compliment Larry. Heres what ive accomplished the last two weeks. Then today i did fork seal, bled front brakes, put on the countershaft sprocket and installed the chain.. On top of all that mess i rejetted a customers Honda Shadow 2 sizes up after he installed aftermarket pipes. AND AND i went to the laundrymat. Been a 13 hour day.

The seat pan without the EPA sticker is the one i got from Dan. The tank is the original tank off Dales Penelope bike. Very very little orange peel. Clear laid down really great and im kinda proud of myself on this project. Still need to gently wet sand parts and polish but tge worst of its over.

Crap....i forgot to bring the chain guard home....get that tomorrow. Funny thing is with all the angles and curves on a chain guard it turned out the best in my opinion. Side covers are darn good too.
 
Do the tail section and seat trim stripes line up when installed.. Gonna bust yer balls a bit if they don't..:rolleyes: Nice work, Chuck.
 
I have no idea Larry. What i did was leave a little of the original stripes on the inside where they wrapped around and guided off them on the tail cowl. Next i sat the seat trim up to it and started the stripes even with the tail cowl. I made the educated assumption this would get things "close" from the get go....make sense to you?
 
Yeah. You did what I would do. I used to set the 2 parts on a table top and line up the bottoms of the parts and then apply the stripes. The problem is that the parts sometimes don't line up once they're mounted on the bike..and you're left with shimming one or the other (usually the tail section) up or down. Most people don't even notice, but it used to drive me crazy if they don't line up.
 
And the Turd is fully polished. Rode it home and she is so tight its like that firtst hit of cocaine...LOL I took a picture of the rashed muffler on top of the one i transplanted for reference.

I wish I could just ship my bike off to have it treated like this. Some fresh paint on the frame would be perfect.

The bike just looks sooo nice.

I guess I can start with pulling the centre stand off and trying to repaint it xD
 
Its for a buddies dad...total surprise. His dads a great guy that did things right. Got rid of all the toys to raise his family and run his HVAC business. He retired now and me and his kid conspired to do this build to surprise Roy. Im not charging him a penny. Just gonna enjoy the shocked look on his face when we hand him the key and tell him its his.

Ahh, that makes sense. I feel that is such an american thing to do.
I wish I could see his reaction when he gets it.
 
Unless its a nostalgia thing or you just have funny money to spend hiring someone to do what i did makes no sense cost wise...theres 2700 plus just in parts to fix this bike. Add that to another 5 grand or so for hours doesnt make sense at all.

SOME people focus on the " what can i make off it"? aspect. Im about lets save it and make a good guy really happy. Roy had a new one in 78 and has wanted another ever since. Next Saturday is his day.

Yeah, I agree. For that sum you could probably find one in a resonable condition. Or something newer. But still, I would absolutely love to have one of these bikes in a great condition (hopefully I will manage to get there some day).

The joy of getting something nostalgic is priceless. And I hope he is young enough he gets to really enjoy it. Its commendable when someone gives something up for family/friends but I can see some people have that sad memories after something. Really hope he enjoys it.

I find it so sad that so many of these bikes are just rotting away somewhere. Its cool to see some brought back to life.
