A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

According to the Clymer, there should be a spacer and a lockwasher (the fold over one i was talking about) EXCEPT on the L model. Different set up...ahh wait..thats the TCSS section...my bad...On the 750...8v...No spacer...you have a lockwasher and a nut. your nut prolly isnt tightened down good enough and you need to fold that tab on the lock washer over to keep it from spinning free. you'll have to pull the bike in gear to do so obviously

Those are stock...with a shat ton of rustoleum black on em...hard as a rock, and ive even spilled brake fluid on em, which is a sure paint eater...and thanks :) I like em i kinda think it sets off the bike more than the tank and seat on some cafe bikes. Ive seen some sweet spoke set ups...One i like em blacked out, two i dont have the patience to polish chrome ones all the damn time :)

Damn I gotta get me some spoked rims then. I like the look i'll prolly put them on my bike when time and money allow. And Rustoleum rules \\:D/

Yup its an L and yup its got a lock washer and a nut. I don't see how it can get tightened down anymore. The sprocket has about 3 or 4 mm of space that it can move up and down the splined shaft. Eh I gotta see about ordering a replacement

FLip the nut around the other way...

Hmm I'll post a pic of it tomorrow. I don't understand....
look at the nut...does it look the same in and out no matter how you look at it?? both sides? keep in mind im goin off a 750s clymer here...if you cant figure it out you might ask Nessim...he seems to be the resident 550 guy..he may know better than I and im sure he has a manual. BTW...there was a guy selling 550 parts on there that had wire rims for sale....dunno if they were drum or disc in back...and bhppy101 has some wires for sale...the same size i do believe as the 750...18 inch rear?

And 19 in the front yes. I'll talk to bhppy101 about that. See how much he'll be wanting for those.

Yeah I think I'll post up a pic tomorrow. Or better yet a movie.... I just remembered my camera does video.

BTW dude I just finished watching a movie that's rattled my cage. I've been saying it for years. The government is fvcking with us. This movie confirmed everything I've been wondering. If you have time watch it. If you ever wondered about things that go on behind our backs this is the movie to watch. It also kinda disproves the bible. Which I also question. But if that's not cool for you, you can skip over that part. This movie will make you start to question things

BTW how wide of a tire can you fit on those spoke rims? And do you run tubes?

Uhh the title would help :P

Im pretty sure you almost HAVE to run tubes with spokes...i think they make some sort of spoke sealer to run tubeless, but that sounds risky to me. Steve and i were talking about it, and on MY bike i could probably get away with a 130 or maybe a 140 rear but that would be about it.

Yeah I think 140 seems to be the limit with all these bikes. Damn narrow rims. I think i'm running a 130 on my rear right now. And it looks alright. A 140 should look purdy good

i think im good with that tho...i got a 120?? i think?? 4.25 whatever that translates to. but im an old school skinny wheel fan...

Bah I'm not about those skinny wheels. But then agian I hate the big ridiculous ones, 300, 330. Thats practically a damn car wheel. A rather LARGE car wheel at that

well thats what came on my bike, and its new so eventually ill change to a 130 or 140 but i dont think thats very big at that...i kinda like it..fits the style of old school cafe...they didnt have all that big wide sticky rubber back then.

Dude I'm seriously thinking fuel injection the 550.... I've always wanted to screw around with MegaSquirt and see where It gets me.... Whadda ya think? Should I inject this sumabich?

Yikes...thats gettin into some **** right there....like all my KZ buddies used to say...first thing you do with a fuel injected KZ is rip the fuel injection off it....course that was old school stuff before digital injection mapping.

Lol good saying. I don't know sh!t about fuel mapping but I'm good with a wrench and a computer so I think I can do it... besides the added fuel economy is enticing. Seeing as this will be a getting to college mobile

dude you should already be gettin upwards of 40mpg...not riding is KILLING my wallet...i rode most of the summer, albeit on my lil KZ before it electrically bellied up, and that thing gets near 60mpg...i was spending like 10 bucks a week and i have a 40 mile round trip ride.

Only 40? Lol I've heard something like high 50's and if I keep my foot out of it, but who can do that, low 60's. After all it is only a 550.

im just guessing...that IS only 110 ccs bigger than my kaw...but prolly bout 100 pounds heavier.. remember you're banging four right? That kaw was 440ccs on a twin.
