FWD is for people who dont know how to control a car in drift. Learn to drive idiots. dont punish the rest of the world.[/quote]

That's also what automatics are for hehe. I never buy anything other than rear wheel drive. And its a shame not alot of cars or trucks don't come standard anymore. I'm waiting for the new Camaro. Rear wheel drive, stick, V8.... What more could you want??????

gm can't do retro styling very well though.

look at the ssr , hhr and the new camaro , all bastardized conceptions of old classic styles.

the camaro should be nice but in person the proportions are all wrong. i'd gladly take a 69 z28 over the new one any day of the week.

I've always found...at least for me who grew up with RWD muscle cars and quick lil RWD rice burners (see 300 ZX) with standard shift, that i have a difficult time with FWD in the snow...as a matter of fact, it plain pi$ses me off. You skid, you lose your steering AND your drive control. It makes it difficult to countersteer.. just me i guess.

and those toyota recalls you speak of aren't recalls theyre called tsb which means technical service bulletin. it is a problem still yes . but unlike a recall it does not impose the vast majority of the cars or pose a safety threat.

and all brands have recalls.

as well as tsbs (or their equivelent)

and on the 20+ year old car issue I beg to differ but it may be a regional thing. all I know is I see at least 10 toyota trucks about as old as my toyota truck every day

and as far as the problems on my dads 5.0 we had a rear seal go bad , the alternator died about 7 times , (in less than 70k) the battery had to be replaced more than 4 times . all the wiring cracked and or got corroded.
his heater core went out

his cast iron manifolds cracked , I replaced them just for the other pair to crack as well.

his oil and coolant was changed to specs. he babied that 10-13mpg hog for the mpg neccessity.

it's a good thing he got it for free from his deceased stepdad . only had 12k miles and it was like 10 years old when we got it.

you're doing all the things you HAVE to do in a rwd car to stay in a straight line. with fwd most all of that is unneccessary.

Its all in the eye of the beholder. I think the new Camaro looks good. As do thousands of other people. Better than the POS new Mustang anyways. Now that thing looks ugly as fvck

As for the SSR that thing was ugly as balls but I happen to like the HHR. Looks like a little panel wagon. I'd buy one but its too heavy for a small 4 cylinder and plus its front wheel drive. Maybe I'll get one when the turboed version comes out

But again all this is in the eye of the beholder. As for me I'd take a 68. The round wheel wells look SO much better than the flat topped one's of the 69.... But none of them can even hold a candle to a 70 Chevelle SS. YOWSA now that's a purdy car

oh trust my scion is my first and only fwd car out of the 7 cars i've owned. but if you setup the suspension right and have good tires on it it can kick ass :)

Ive only driven a few different FWD cars and only owned one...maybe its that im just not used to how they react, but they seem more unpredictable to me in those situations.

have you seen the new challenger? It may be a dodge but it looks exactly like a 1970 hemi cuda. YUM. now THOSE are going to sell.

and true style is the one thing that is always personal and opinionated. most people hate my car but it's ok I like it.

I'd also love a 66-68 nova ss

well lets see which fwd cars you are comparing to which rwd cars?

it's pretty clear to see than a fwd econbox or family sedan will handle much differently than a pickup or a sportscar. or even a sports sedan.

that mercedes couldn't have handled very well . it was a tank!

My current AFFORDABLE droolmobile is the WRX STI...i will own one soon...buddy of mine has JUST the WRX (just..heh) And its a f-ing BLAST to drive. But since i like drift a lil bit too much, it would be great on the dirt, but it will not break loose for your moms booty on the street.

You;d be VERY suprised...by no means was it a track star, but It BLASTED other cars on the highway. i would attribute that to Autobahn gearing... And with little body roll to speak of, it could handle some quite spirited turning.

Yeah those look good. I just hope Dodge doesn't package everything stupid into the engine bay. Things are a big enough pain in the ass with the cars they got now. Its gonna be a race to see who sells more, Camaros or Challengers. Mustangs need not apply. Chicks cars are all they're useful for

Hehe yeah I hate your car. Box on wheels. But people say my truck is ugly and I think it looks alright.

MEH I don't particularly like Novas. No matter how much people try they just don't look cool. And that's cuz I've seen some pretty tricked out Novas. At most they look like a Grandma car.

79 Trans Am's though. Those are sex on wheels. I was so close to buying one. But it slipped through my fingers

1. Its German of course it handled well 2. Heavy cars usually handle well at high speeds because of all the mass. They tend to be more stable.

Had a 78 T/A...400 Bigblock...289 race cam..(the thing would die at traffic lights if you left it in gear and didnt two foot it, it loaped so hard) 3:73, B&M slapstick shift kit, firehawk tires...thing looked like hell as it was all in primer and the interiour had been gutted but for the seats. But i used to eat Rustangs for breakfast in that thing like no ones business....13 flat in those street tires with ME behind the wheel...and im no drag racer...

To a point...but the fact that the thing had such a great roll rate is what made it do as well as it did...

Those things are BADASS. I was reading a mag the other day and they were doing a cover story on some dirt drifting WRX and man was that thing badass. 900 horsepower. Absolutely crazy. Those little boxster engines can put down some power

I think tho...the favorite thing about that T/A was the shakerbox hood...i always had a thing for that..

well with the non serviceable auto on the 5.7 and a seemingly newly sourced 6 speed with the 6.1 who knows about the challenger. i'm betting it will sell more than the maro. but they will both be at the least decent cars with cool retro appeal. it'll be interestng to see which older folks trade in their bmws and lexus's and benzes to get some glory day new car muscle.

they're both gonna be pretty much out of or not worth buying at the lower end spectrum of their model base.

It's funny i've been seeing a lot of middle aged folks in sti's and evolutions. i know theyre a blast to drive and still get decent mileage as well as good handling but man those old farts must be taking a beating with those kidney beater cars.

I def love the sti but it's too rich for my blood. i'd get a g35 before i'd get the wrx. but just barely.
