A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Thoughts on the KZ1100

In my 40 plus years of motorcycling, I have found the high mileage bikes are the good ones. They are out being ridden instead of sitting in a shop awaiting repairs. Just my 2 cents. I don't hesitate to by a high mileage bike if it sounds and drives good.

What he said. I have never seen a GS that didn't work anymore due to high mileage.
Due to poor maintenance, sure. Due to serious abuse, yes. Due to sitting forever, of course. And a few that were crashed too many times. But I've never seen one worn out, at least not so worn out a few hundred dollars worth of parts and a few weekends of effort wouldn't fix it.

I'll take the high mileage GS any time.

That is probably for the best, now go finish your other two bikes :p
Things are looking up in that area. I finally found an OEM 1100G head gasket for under $60. I'm going to try a used ignition pickup and see if I can get a decent trigger signal.

I'll still need a replacement for the Sabre at some point.

LOL probably cheaper than fixing what I have if it runs. Thanks!

EDIT
Had to join the site to see the ad- or so I thought, and then had to jump through some hoops to finally see the ad. The bike is in Virginia, likely $1100 total to have it here. :( I posted to see if he'll sell & ship just the engine.

"Needs an airbox". I bet he used a sawzall to remove the one on the bike, I saw the design while working on mine & thought you'd have to pull the engine to remove it.

Not quite but almost. When I parted mine out it took some ingenuity and a hammer but I got it out without destroying it and sold it to a guy in Finland.

Nice bike once you curb dumpster all the fiberglass crap off it and make it a REAL bike again.

i had a kz1000st great bike. i would snatch it up it might not take much to get her going and i think there are plenty of rod,and main bearings around , if you even needed, and surely a overbore isnt to much
it would be a new bike again, ready for another 97k!

the shaft is really smooth, but i prefer the chain, so i can change the sizes

Life, liberty, and the freedom to put what YOU want on YOUR bike that results in your happiness. You may even want to paint it brown.

What a great concept, someone should have written that down about 237 years ago. ;)

You asked for opinions and posted the picture...I didnt!! So, you got my opinion on that ugly azz weight crap thats attatched to it....so stop whining. I love the bike itself though.

EDIT
N/M, I just added you to the ignore list due to your worthless post.

Chuck, you are the class 1 asshat this time. He didnt ask for opinions on fairings, or to be made fun of because he needs them for his purposes, he asked for opinions on an old Kawasaki.

You didn't help him much.

I told him the bike itself looked great...given the fact it is covered with crap isnt my fault.

And my azzhat remark is for a thin skinned "youre on my ignore list" dude who needs to put on his big girl panties and toughen up some.

If my comments were that "hurtful"..then he is in for a tough road around here in the future!!!
