A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I am not a smoker and never have been, but inhaling smoke today is unavoidable.

Being ranked as number one is hardly a moment for rejoicing,, but today (and hopefully only temporarily) Toronto has the worst air pollution of any major city in the world. (LA ranks 89th)

The actual wildfires are nowhere near here, but their smoke covers thousands of square miles.
We have smoke/smog so thick there is nothing but grey: not even a hint of blue sky or yellow sun can be seen.

Was camped between Youngstown and Akron, OH the last few nights and just landed north of Ann Arbor, MI a few minutes ago. There was some smoke going across I-80 through Ohio this morning and it cleared out just before I got to Ann Arbor. It's too hot to push it and further today (hence leaving at first light) and I'm needing to make a quick run into Detroit tomorrow then north toward my old stomping grounds on Friday. There's air quality alerts north of here and the forecast for tonight is heavy smoke where I'm at now, it'll be interesting to see how it pans out.

Welcome to my world Ron ..... Kind of a regular thing out here though this year we've been spared so far { touch burnt wood } .... But you're getting it with heat so I hear ....... That kind of sucks .....

Yes, it has been a bit warm...yesterday's official temp for Toronto was 37.6Celsius....just about 100 degrees Fahrenheit
I know it can get higher than that in parts of Ooosa ( highest for me was 116F in Kansas City) but 100F is very unusual here.

The smoke, as unusual as it may be, is unrelenting...and thick.
We did not get any trace of "morning sun" and it has been that way all day..

It has been so dim and dark all day that the dusk-to-dawn outdoor lights on my house have have been ON most of the day.
When I was out in the car (which also has that feature) at 4: PM this afternoon it did the same thing..

It hit 95° here (That's 35 in the sane countries) and there's a severe thunderstorm warning with lots of booming heading this way. It didn't occur to me earlier but I'm camped less than two miles from Hell! Hell, Mi. It's on the map.

Today's forecast is smoke, followed by more smoke and night finally closing off the sight of smoke. just leaving behind the smell, like smoke from a stale cigar lingers and insults the nose.

No argument about it, the moment you open your door or window smoke hits you in the nose and eyes.

That said, this morning we have improvement as yesterday's totality of grey has diminished enough that we can identify clouds above and a grey-blue sky behind them.

Forecasters expect this to continue until tomorrow morning and then we get a break from the smoke.

Woke up this morning with a bit of fog in the air. As the sun rose it became apparent that it wasn't fog after all! Visibility is less than a mile and the high temperature forecast has been lowered by 15°F. I smoke like a pile of burning tires and even I can smell it.

Had I known it was going to cool off so much I'd have changed my travel plans and headed west, eventually making it to Sturgis for the first time since 86. Blame Scooter Tramp Scotty, he talked me into it
