    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I will have to take a look, just to see your story ... and to see if it is you or if it is your bike that is the bannanna that is flying.

Interesting story of riding, and camping and comradiery (if insults and acusations are comradiery, har har har), and intersting photos of the group and the scenery and the bikes.

I conclude that the "bannana" reference is relative to "a certain yellow Kat" that scared away the "buzzards".

Something that at least some Americans find puzzling about Australians is how camaraderie between men is usually expressed in ribald insults and relentless ribbing. I remember one time how I greeted a mate at breakfast with a rather off-hand "Good morning ugly!", only to have an American friend who had heard this come up to me later and ask, "Are you guys OK?!" My mate and I thought that was most amusing!

It's strange but true: unless my mates give me some crackingly good insults, I just don't feel loved. A polite greeting would make me suspicious that our friendship was suffering in some way.

I know what you mean about the ocean. I sometimes sit out at the edge of the Pacific thinking "Japan is just 6,000 miles that way". It's a far horizon

For those of us not familiar with your area; what distance is it between Perth and western coast?

Perth is on the West coast. A typical weekender riding down south where they went is usually between 800-1000 kms 500-600miles
I know because i was one of the Buzzard riders who couldnt make it :rolleyes:

This is very good information to know...about the insults/ribbing that is.

I haven't had a chance to read the narrative but I'm going to now.

Just had some exchanges with someone from your neck of the woods so I'm a little more understanding of this practice. (Even though the person I went back and forth with isn't a friend, I get it)

OK, just finished reading about this trip. Thoroughly enjoyed skimming through and identifying key words...my wife is British so I've heard some slang words before but nothing like this.

The uncooked sausage and the way you described your mates about feeling sorry for you...that was funny.

The wisecracks about the FZR1000 and how its lack of maintenance results in a slow ride...funny!

The use of the word "hypocrisy" caught my attention too.

You guys are alright...wouldn't think otherwise. Thanks for sharing the link.

Thanks for all the comments/ feedback there guys... I would have replied sooner but have been bogged-down at this end changing internet providers, etc. What a chore. :rolleyes:

Anyhow, good to see that Shedman has surfaced and put you all in the loop as to where Perth is, etc. When folks travel to Australia they usually give Perth and the South West a miss (Perth is most isolated city in the world... just look at it on Google Earth and you'll see what I mean). Yes it is a bit 'out of the way' but there's nothing like the south coast of WA, sheer beauty and a very unspoiled part of the world.

Well, you just destroyed my plan to get up early and do some prep for work this a.m. Started reading the info about your bikes and couldn't stop.
