DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello guys. I'm new here but not to the game. This one has me stumped. I just picked up a '78 GS1000 from shed storage since 1980. The owner has long passed so I can't ask him what it is. He had all kinds of goodies bolted to this thing, this exhaust being one of them. It was chrome and may get re-chromed depending on what it is. Does anybody have any ideas what it is? It's very short, it mounts low on a completely horizontal plain, fits very well, and is loud. It has been bolted on the bike since at least 1980. Thanks guys!

Looks like a Yoshimura but the tab at the back is the wrong side for a 1000 (or maybe they changed it at some point... mine was a pain to get the rear bolt into place as you had to do it from the back...) :)

I would guess early Yosh as well.
Had one similar shape but a bit smaller diameter muffler.
If the packing around the baffle is a dense foam-like material it is probably a Yosh.

I don't think it's a Yosh, because it should have two rivets at the back of the can where the Yosh emblem was attached

it definately looks like that Yosh thats on ebay. i dont think i have seen a left handed 4 into 1 on a GS before, different i suppose.
i guess there may be some kickstand clearance issues?

I am missing the left side reference?
Same pipe, just painted. He also has a bunch of Yosh engine parts on auction.

its confusing, it looks like a right side exhaust but the rear hanger bracket is surely on the wrong side of the exhaust, or am i missing something here as well?

FWIW, I had a pipe like that years ago, only on a Honda and it was a Jardine.
