    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I removed the rear turn signals on my '80 550L this past week to install a cargo rack (had to remount signals on a bracket). When I reinstalled them they were super floppy- drooping really. Come to find out that there is supposed to be a rubber or plastic O ring between the frame bracket and the square rubber spacer, and mine had disintegrated (at the moment, about 1/3 of the ring is left and is jammed in there to hold it together.) consequently, if I hit rough road my rear signal can go out, but just needs to be jiggled to go back on.

Wondering if anyone knows where I could get replacements for these rubber/plastic parts? Or should I just go to a hardware store and find a close match?
 
All these bits are still available from Suzuki, and pretty cheap, too. On the diagram below, they're #9 and #10 (order two of each -- they're the same as #23 and #24).

Order 'em from your favorite online source for OEM Suzuki bits. The parts prices above are from http://partshark.com.

Tip: Look around your bike at all the other rotted and cracked rubber cushions and such (especially the side cover grommets), and if you poke through the online parts fiches you'll find a surprising number of them are still available for a buck or three each. Replace all this stuff, and your bike will suddenly look and feel a lot newer -- all the cosmetic bits will line up, the instruments and signals won't sag, stuff will stop rattling and squeaking...

Thanks bwringer! Believe it or not, I didn't know that there were places that sold OEM parts like that! Parts ordered and hopefully shipping this week..
 
Update!

Got my replacement parts, but they didn't fix the sagging problem (although they are certainly in better shape than the older ones. Turns out, having replaced my signal bracket with a custom one to attach a cargo rack and sissy bar. The custom bracket is thinner than the stock one, causing part 24 from the diagram below, to sag. Adding an o ring outside that part fixed the sagging problem.
