Type of chrome for rechroming front forks

Dear All,

I am rebuilding my GS850 G from 1979, and now the front forks are on the radar.

In my near vicinity I have to companies doing Chrome work. One doing "hard chrome" and another doing "glossy chrome" (The names are directly translated from the Danish terms "H?rd Krom" and "Glans Krom". I do not know the correct english terms, so I hope that you know what I mean )

The funny thing is that both companies keep recommending the other company and the other type of chroming for this job, so now I am confused.

Which type of Chroming would you recommend for the forks? Inner tubes that is.

Hard chrome but make sure its a company that does forks, and NOT ure local chrome plater/polisher. In australia price works out about 300 dollars for both to be done. below is some info for what you are looking for in a good company...... http://www.radhardchroming.com.au/

You could send them over here to one of the fork specialists eg Philpotts , Dynasurf (there's a few others equally as good). Postage won't be a killer and with the ? in the doldrums at the moment you might get a good deal. Beware long lead in times though - they're all usually pretty busy.

I am dropping by some of the local vendors (not polishers) next week to see what they can offer. If they arent up to par, the forks might be going abroad
