A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Vance & Hines Sidewinder Questions

Yes I am finally working on getting the GS up again but I need some help. I am considering getting a Vance & Hines sidewinder system for the bike but need to know where I can find one (the cheapest place), how it sounds and will I lose access to the oil filter or center stand. Help?

I have the street megaphone type on my 1000L and still have access to the oil drain, oil filter and kept the centerstand. I did call thier tech line before I bought it and the person I spoke with said it would fit fine which it did. On the L's the new pipes rear mounting bolt location was slightly different from the OEM mount. If you have the longer G type pipes it might bolt direct. I did keep the bracket under the left side rear peg for the centerstand bumper.

Just realize that the sidewinder is a race only baffle-free open megaphone. If you are running on the street you will need to rejet and you will lose bottom end with this pipe. Unless you have a highly modified engine this pipe is a poor choice for the street.

I had a baffle in mine. still have the baffle. I bought both from DK

Hope you are a big Nascar fan, your ability to have fun turning right will go away.

I never had trouble turning right but all my fun is going straight FAST!!!!! Not all people build a bike to go road racing.

I hadn't considered how low it sat... Maybe I have to think some more about this although I love the way it looks :(

Not everyone builds a bike to go straight. It sure looks like the right turns would be an issue. I've never seen a sidewinder on any bikes that weren't straight line bikes, look at LarryT's. Contact V&H, they should shoot straight with you.

I actually decided that I would buy new tires with the money I was going to spend on the Vance & Hines. I have a brand new 4 into 2 MAC system that I am going to install instead. I appreciate the input though guys.
