A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

The choke plunges keep sticking on 1,2.3 carbs ,the lifting gear from cable down woods what is the best lube to use 3in1 oil to prevent it happening again.

The best lube is ... NONE.

Remove the plungers, polish them up. Clean out the bores, re-install the plungers.

Most any lube you put in there will attract any dirt that might happen by, and will crud everything up, resulting in the situation you currently have.

.

Make sure you have the lifting arms lined up correctly at right angles and the right way up as well.

Thanks guys its never been a problem before and as bike has been stood around for past two summers with all its problems I wont go there....

If she's stood around then it's a safe bet that the inside of the cylinders have got caulky with alloy corrosion. You'll have to pull the plungers out and polish the internals.

Sorted this problem out thank you all, now got another one number 3 carb keep piddling petrol out of float bowl pipe every time I stop at a set of traffic lights or its just ticking over when its running it goes really well..

Sticky float needle or float ht slightly to low would be my guess..Can raise the ht 1 MM and see if that solves the problem.

EDIT...check to see if the overflow tube is loose in the bowl or hasn't got any cracks in it. Float hts may be OK but there be damage to the tube itself.

First thing Id check is to make sure the drain screw is tight. The name has been changed to protect the dumass that didnt once before

And the 4 bowl screws themselves..yes I am guilty of that one once.

Thanks for posting and reminding me..GHEEZ!!!

Think I'm sort took float bowl off, pin out of float, then needle jet out the brass thingy the needle sits in was blocked blew it out ,put all back together it fired up straight away left it to tick over for a while no more tiddling on garage floor road test soon.....
