A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Voltage regulator dead after crash

Physical trauma, I thought, didn’t do these things much damage…. But since after my get off (that broke zero plastics and damaged zero wires), I’m only getting a half a volt out of my regulator.

have 18vAC from each pair of stator wires at idle, 50vAC at revs. Good solid connection to ground, <1ohm. Wires are in good shape. <1ohm from regulator to end of the v+ output wire.

is it bunk!??

Do you have another one you can test with? That would be the easiest way... I have a spare but postage there & back probably doesn't make much sense, must be someone there local who has one on hand.

Maybe Nessism has a tested one he's selling... if you didn't need it ultimately then you could just sell it on at the same price. :)

50VAC is weak. It should be closer to 80.

Are you wired directly from the stator to the R/R? If not, maybe the wiring got tweaked in the wreck.

Got it sorted out.
i have a good FA020 on my kawi ninja that has the same harness plugs, I swapped the SH775 over to the ninja and it worked just fine. Must be wires…. But all the wires spec’d out ok without current thru them.

eventually saw some smoking from the 3 yellows, melted the insulation and shorted a bit. Cut them all out and replaced them with fresh copper and soldered it all together. Also noticed the ground wire was crispy also, changed that for some 14ga instead of the 16ga that was there.

now I’m charging at 14.9 easily. Seems a bit high, I’d love it if it was hovering at like 14.4 but I’ll take it for now. It’s better than the 12.2 of this morning. Yeesh.

wonder if track day high revs crisped up the wires…
