I'm not selling these but they are being dumped on ebay for real cheap and there doesn't seem to be any end in supply.

About 10 came up previously from one vendor and as i recall they all had good reviews.

If anyone buys one please report back as the real Compu Fires are much smaller footprint and are in general a better product than the SH-775.

Compufire still lists this for over $200

I'm looking at the wording and have to wonder if these are a sorta similar looking knockoff of the real thing like we've seen happen to the 775.

Agree. "Fit for Compu-Fire..." Gotta pass unless someone verifies.

When they are "NEW", from China, and have free shipping, you really have to wonder. As Nessism observed, they don't say they are Compufire, they are "FOR Compufire". That wording is nearly identical to all the knock-off ads for the SH775 regulators.

You say the CF has a smaller footprint. I will have to say "yes and no" to that. Yes, it occupies just a little bit less real estate, but is considerably taller. I can get comparison pictures for you tomorrow.

Foot print refers to the 2 dimensional area occupied by the part when mounted. In practical terms this footprint is substantially smaller than the SH775 when you allow for the fact that no connector is required for the Compufire. Compufire height is slightly larger (1/2" perhaps), but nothing that generally interferes with a side cover. The available footprint under the cover is very limited and the Compufire is much easier to locate there in fact on teh GS1100E's fits in the stock location (with some trimming)

SH775 in stock (ish) spot on the 1000 in case it helps anyone. Did require spacing a bit on the left as well as an aluminium strap behind. Ignore the dodgy fuse block

I'm very suspicious of the latest crop of so-called 'Compufires'.
As far as I could make out the previous ones that were being sold off by a dealer were the remnants of the last batch that would have been fitted to Victory motorcycles if they hadn't closed their doors and stopped production, so the likelihood of them being bogus was small and they were cheap enough to risk a punt.

I think these latest ones are Con-U-Fyres.

My guess (and it's purely that) is the factory that was making them for compufire is now marketing directly. No telling what has been done to the internals without someone scoping it to see if it goes open circuit when it regulates...

That I what I suspect as well. The casting seem identical to the real CF.

The misperception that people probably have is that it is expensive to produce a Compufire or SH-775. The production costs in volume are probably less than $10 US FOB China.

Yes they are more sophisticated than the earlier shunt R/R's but no more expensive to produce.
