Wanting a dual bulb (side by side) brake light for my 700E!

Has anyone replaced the stock brake light on their bike with a newer
dual bulb unit? I'm wanting a dual bulb unit so I can add the turn
signal integrator kit on to it and do away with the huge turn signals
and long stalks on my 85 700E. Any ideas would be helpful. I'm not afraid
to cut and splice either . Brian

Seems like putting flush mount blinkers on where the reflectors are now would be easier, look sweet, and maybe even be a little safer then having it all integrated in one unit.

You can get short stalk signals on Ebay cheap too. That's what I used after bobbing the rear fender. I just bent some L-shaped brackets bolted under the fender to mount the signals on. They barely stick out past the fender and with clear lenses you barely see them.

I thought about the flush mounts, but on the side of the rear fender I
don't think you would be able to see them from behind, during the
day anyways. Targa has some short stalks for $15 a pair. I think
I'll give them a try. I was just wanting to do away with the rear
turn signals all together. Oh well, worth a shot.

Does it matter if I get two or three wire? I know my fronts are three
wire. Will I just lose the running light part if I step down to two wires?

The two wire lights will almost certainly be blinkers only. You can check the bulb to be sure but it won't have running lights unless the stalk is the ground and the wires are for signals and running lights.

You don't want to use short stalks for running lights. They are so small the constant heat from the bulbs melts the housing when used as running lights. Luckily Indiana doesn't have inspection since these
are way under dot specs. I'll pick some up this morning from
my local shop. They have the lockhart ones for $20.
Next question, what is the wiring colors for mine, since
I don't have a manual yet. Thanks again.

Should be a light green hot wire to the right side and a black hot wire to the left side. Black with white tracer ground to each side. Connections for the rear signals are on the right side of the battery. They are bullet connectors and you will have to lengthen the wires on the signals to reach. You can just cut some of the wire off your old signals to splice in.
