    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

  • In order to help others find info on a particular bike, be sure to put the year, make or model of bike that you are asking a question about, in the Topic Title. This will allow people to pass by posts they have no interest in.

I said I wasn't going to do anymore wrenching this season now that the FZ is legal but I had to.

The silly stock mirrors mounted on the fairing don't give any view of what's behind you and that is just too damn scary for me so like I had done for my GSs, I made adapters to move them out a bit. This is what I came up with:

Not the prettiest things but they make the mirrors workable now.

A bit of 1/8" x 2.75"mild steel stock about 3.5" long pushes them out about 2.5" from the stock location.

I just used what nuts and bolts I had lying around but I'll replace them with cap screws and steel acorn nuts if they work out for me.

The mounts are bolted through the fairing to the "birdcage" under neath so they are solid and I don't expect they will vibrate over much. No chance to test this evening but as soon as I can tomorrow I'll be testing.

Only one more necessary bodge still to do. I need to put a short bar on the sidestand so I can find it with my foot when I want it down. The darn thing tucks in tight to the frame and goes partially under the pipes so its hard to get a toe on. Annoying.
 
Just do what everyone with a Cooley does. Pick up your left arm and look under your arm pit!!!
 
1 That's tweaking NOT wrenching so you're good.
2 IMHO barends would be a better solution,but I'm biased:D
