    DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Welp, not a good end to the day.

As others have stated, this just sucks. Glad you are OK and hope things go well for you regarding the settlement from Ins. co. Take all the time necessary before signing anything though.
Good luck going forward.

Dam, glad you're ok, and she is relatively ok. It's a shame about the bike though. I doubt they will give you much for her. Not enough to replace what you actually had anyway.

She was wearing a half-helmet, but no other gear other than her t-shirt and jeans. She looked like one of these locals who are 35 but look 50, if ya know what I mean.

I'm feeling ok, soreness in the shoulder that I landed on, a sore thumb and various sore spots, but overall remarkably fine considering I was in a motorcycle accident yesterday....

The bike, I'm afraid, is toast, the frame is bent. Won't know about engine status till after the adjuster looks at it. I "think" the engine is probably ok, it wasn't running once it was down.

Post accident self-critique is ongoing, I definitely panic-braked and MAYBE made it worse, though I'm trying to be generous to myself.....I only had maybe 40 feet of road to do anything in, and at 50 mph that ain't much.

Anyway, as bummed as I am about the ES I recognize and am thankful that I was able to walk away from a moto accident. Luck helped A LOT there, and the gear definitely took the rest of the load.

My wife is a nurse at the hospital the other rider was taken to, so I think she will be able to get an update about her. Even though she was worse off than me, she was still very lucky she fared as well as she did, considering her lack of gear and awareness.

Thanks for the condolences about the bike, be safe out there!!! And wear your gear!!!!

Yep, 99% of riders will do the same. Of the 1% who wouldn't lock up, a good proportion of that is because the brakes weren't working and some more because they weren't looking ahead.
Don't make hasty decisions about the hardware. I sense a frame about to appear :)

Glad to hear you are going to be okay. I'd buy it back from the insurance company and rebuild it. Two months after i bought my 750 in '83, i was hit from behind by a friend of mine on a '82 gpz550. Own the same bike still today, but very little of it is still stock...

Weird accident, as they all are.
There really are a lot more peeps driving around this week, and they're all in a big hurry.
Oh, right it's Mem Day week.
What's all this talk about an insurance check for your 37 YO bike? Didn't know comprehensive was available for ancient metal, or worth the premium.

lol any insurance talk is just talk at this point. I am not optimistic, but hey miracles happen occasionally...

Greg! Greg!

Sorry to hear.

On way home from work...... a bike pulls out in front of you.....
After all these years of keeping an eye out for cars....

///////////QUOTE
I'm basically totally ok,
/////////////////ENDQUOTE
That is the best part of the story.
And your story of you didnt involve ambulance.

////////////QOTE
........, jacket is rashed on the left side, armored pants rashed, and a small but significant rash on the side chin-bar of the helmet
////////////ENDQUOTE
each one of those would have been a significant injury.
Did some pavement surfing, eh.

How you doing on day 3 ?

Of course it's good news you are ok. getting over it and being 'made whole" will maybe never happen except with time. (I've had good luck keeping the bike if there's any way to fix it easily.... i did better with a cash settlement if you can AVOID the registration office ressetting your registration to "salvage"- avoid that if you keep the bike)

It's a *@%^$*@%^$*@%^$*@%^$off but it does remind us that oncoming bikes ARE HARD TO NOTICE. How many of us keep a "special eye" out for bikes when turning onto the road? Mostly we are looking for cars too...and can have the same selective vision cardrivers have.

Definitely sore today, heh. I have no evidence of this, but i suspect she might have had a drink in her system.....She had been at her son's house and was headed back to her own house around the corner.... The son showed up at the scene and he seemed a bit tipsy and evasive. With all the covid stuff, lotsa day-drinking going on around these parts. Just saying it wouldn't surprise me.

Dave, this was on river road at Pillon, right in the residential section as you are headed out towards camp. I was on cruise mode headed home, doing the speed limit as I see no need to hammer it on the straightaways.....I always pay pretty close attention in that stretch 'cause there is ALWAYS someone doing something stupid in there, usually near the mobile home community. This one snuck up on me though....

Definitely considering ABS for the next bike, and a headlight modulator too. Dunno if it would have made a difference, buuut....

Sorry to hear that. May your bike rust in peace. I know how you feel. I got totally bummed just putting a dent in the tank of my Suzuki. If I ever totalled it, I'd be in a state of depression. Hang in there, get better, and see what door opens after this one closes.

heh, yeah, I would have done it differently but she wasn't really my type.

Well, you could consider parting it out. Likely make more of your money back out of her. Plenty of people around here could use some parts. Just a thought. Not trying to be a vulture here, but I could be interested in the whole bike if the engine is good...

Kinda…I know I'd rather meet a woman who was 50 but looked 35.
Reminds me, I met a very nice lady at Grattan who found me interesting. She didn't look a day more than 30 years my junior.

So did you break her leg?

Late to the party here, but I do want to affirm that this sucks. I have some attachment to that bike too, and I'm sad to hear it's wrecked.

Good job being protected. Maybe not a good job on the braking; we all probably need more drilling on emergency stops. But that's the problem with a left turner. You can't be good enough on the brakes. Vision is our only hope.

Well, I hope everyone manages to come out of this without significant permanent damage. Now that you've survived one crash, don't crash again, OK?
