A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

what did you wrench on today??

Got the new wheel bearings in and wheels back on with the new rubber. Got the chain on and torqued up the countershaft sprocket nut. Got the gear change lever on and filled her with oil. Got the new brake pads in and torqued up the caliper axle bolts.

I still have yet to put the chain link on properly as I didn't realise I needed a special tool... will get one this week to finish that off.

Mr. Hahn showed up today with sync gauges today and got carbs dialed in. Running real nice, and with a bit of rejetting and a date with the dyno... :D

Franks bike is running just a bit lean. There are 127.5 mains in the carbs right now. Were gonna have to bump up the mains a notch i think. Then when we can get the Dyno free some afternoon we are gonna run her and see what the best mix is and get her super dialed in. I got good connections with Randy ( the guy that builds the harvest classic bike each year ) and Lance, so shes got some very capable hands to care for her.

Neglected to update in here for a while... got my hand grips on tonight and put the hand guards on properly as well.

Found a location to put the pigtail for the trickle charger so I don't have to go fiddling with the battery terminals.

Started putting the new fuel and vacuum hoses on but got fed up real quick with that while sweating like a pig, so will tackle those another night.

Aiming for a run this Sunday with maybe even a shake down run around the block if I can change gears and if the clutch works...

A bunch of stuff today...

Some noisy stuff that will be revealed in good time, fixed the sagging left pillion peg, wire wheeled the tank badges, got the new ball joints on the gear change arm so I can change gears successfully, and got the fuel and vacuum hoses hooked up.

Theoretically I adjusted the clutch... I put it like that because with the clutch lever held in it's quite hard to turn the rear wheel when in gear.

I suspect it's as simple as I need to get some wheels spun in anger to free it all up as this is the first time I've tried to use it since the engine rebuild...

With the oil being cold, it still has friction between the plates and is basically a viscous coupling.
Adjust it with warm oil after you ride it this weekend. ;) :)

Fixing to upgrade my 750 front end to an 1100 front end soon.

Cool, makes sense :)

And yes that would be quite awesome :D

Come on upholsterer... you can do it! I really don't want to do the Leigh pillow trick...

I got the new airbox to carb boots for my 76 CB 750A Hondamatic, so i got the carbs and airbox all redone and put the bike back together and took it for a short ride..about 6 miles. Ran like a champ and is lots of fun.

Looking forward to taking a spin on her, Chuck. Haven't rode a "clutchless" since my Western Auto minibike... circa 1968.

On the wrenching front: Calibrated sending unit today. Fill, check, drain, adjust... fill, check, drain, adjust... fill, check (snap off a bullet connector...), drain, adjust... and finally reading 1/2 full. :D

NOTHING! I went for a ride! Bwaahahhahahha. First time in a long time I was not wrenching before riding. Felt good. Bike ran great (GPz, GS has a slight tummy ache).
Was supposed to help wrench on a friend's WS-6 TransAm, but he was a no-show. His loss. My gain.

Put my missing split pins in the axles and rear brake stabiliser arm, stuck some fuel in her, fired her up and checked the ignition timing for the Dynatek (spot on) and checked the charging system with the new R/R installed (spot on).

Then I took her for a shake down ride!!!

Round the block for the first time in nearly 10 years :dancing::clap::D:lol::dancing:

Yeah that felt good! Just need some bigger pilots so she'll come back down to idle properly and she'll be all good to start tuning after getting her registered :D

Pic's and video will follow shortly in my rebuild thread for proof that this event occurred ;)

Well, I was working after midnight on it so I guess it classifies as "today".

Out with the old...
