    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

This doesn't match with my service manual. 13" length, 5 position pre-load & 4 position damper on top. The top mount is aluminum and the rest of the shock is/was chrome. My 77 GS750 didn't have adjustable dampers did it?

If anyone knows, can it be rebuilt? or can only put new springs on it?

not sure looks like a oem shock maybe off a gs1000

can we get a couple more pics, maybe where the damping rod slides into the body, are there 2 holes on the cap that the damping rod slides through?, no nothing stamped anywhere on the shock? usally koni maybe even ikon (i haven't checked mine) stamps their name.
 
It looks like the stock shocks on my 78 1000. 78 is when Suzuki came out with the multi-adjustable shock.
 
Nothing printed on the shock except for "05" right above the damper adjustment. There are no holes where the rod slides. I was thinking I could get away with just cleaning these up a bit & buying new Heavy Duty springs. It looks like no problem to put new springs on, but I don't see how I could do anything else. I've never had a shock apart, though.

They're stock shocks. So do what chef1366 did -- throw them away.

And replace them with Koni's (now re-manufactured under licence by IKON in New South Wales, Australia) -- website here.

i second this opinion. there are no dimples in the top by the damping rod then they are not rebuildable. depending on the riding you do, is rebound adjustablity important to you, if so go with the ikon if not go with progressive shocks and save a couple bucks.
