A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Last week the alternator went out on my 05 Buick LaSaber. A new one at AutoZone was around $140. I decided to try my luck at the Bone Yard for $35. Well it lasted five days. So I took it off the car (very easy job) to return it for a hopefully better one. Meanwhile I've been riding the 850 to work. So after work I was riding to the yard and then my wheel spline decided to strip out on me. Luckily I was close to a friends house so I could park my motorcycle there. I called my friend Bob to ask him if he could take me to the junk yard, he said no problem. The problem was by the time he got off work to pick me up the junk yard would be closed. No problem, just give me a ride home and I'll figure out how to get to work the next day. I looked at my 1100, it looked at me. Well lets see if you will start( it hasn't been ridden since last summer) I turned the fuel on, checked the oil level. I hit the starter button, after a couple of revolutions it fired up! It fired up like it was happy to be called into service! This morning it was cold 36? the 1100e loves cool weather, it ran so crisp and clean. I made it to work in record time. So after work I'm going back to the bone yard to try and get a good alternator. If not I know I can rely on the ol'1100 to take me where I need to go, and in fine fashion too :)

Reminds me of my time with my '68 Camaro. Alternator, distributor, leaf spring, even the whole engine - just a few bucks in any junkyard.

Alternator on my GSX1100F went. $1226 for a new one. Picked up a used one off a low miler on ebay for 70 bucks shipped. Yes I I'm happy......

Check rockauto.com for a new alternator. If they have it, it will probably be half the price of AutoZone. They tend to ship fast, but it still takes a few days to get to you so it depends on how soon you need it.
