I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Well I have found somthing else wrong.

I went to take the starter clutch apart and found the nut on the crank shaft loose, I mean finger loose.
If I tighten it inger tight it seems to be ok, Te question is, are the clutch bolts sheared or what?
Also what else could have caused the nut to come loose?

I need a new left side cover gasket for a 1982 GS1100G.

Where would be a good place to get them?

Thanks

Mr. bjlffire,

I've ordered gaskets from bikbandit.com, z1enterprises.com, and realgaskets.com (breather and valve cover gaskets). If you need it in a hurry you can always try the local bike shop, but I'd be surprised. The left side cover gasket shouldn't be any more than five or six bucks.

Is it #17 here? Actually, mrcycles had a better looking online parts fiche than bikebandit.

And I'd love to see pictures of your '82 GS1100G! I think those are very schnazzy bikes.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

P.S. Sorry, looks like Z1 sells only gasket sets.

You could go to your local auto parts store and buy a roll of gasket material... I made the clutch cover gasket on my bike as a temporary measure but its still leak free after almost three years. Making a gasket isn't something I'd do every time I needed one but it IS a good skill to have and I get a real feeling of pride every time I look across the garage at the floor under my roomies Harley and then under my bike with the homemade gasket...

Thanks everyone.
I will check out the suggested shops.

BASS: mine looks just like the photo at the bottom of your post, only side plate says GS1100G, same color same stance.

CRC2 sells clutch and stator (they call them dyno covers for some reason) cover gaskets individually for most GS models. Also valve cover gaskets and a host of other goodies besides.

http://crc2onlinecatalog.com

They're very nice quality Vesrah gaskets -- better than OEM, IMnsHO.

FWIW, I just checked about all the suppliers mentioned for gaskets. Cycle-Recycle had the best price by a long shot. Also worth noting, the online catalog did not mention individual valve cover gaskets for my 1100GK. I called anyway and was glad I did. They stock them and will be shipping me one.
Thanks for posting the link.
