A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

ONe is faded one is not
perhaps the black one is a recent swap out.

No matter there was a guy on here that sold decal overlay thongs to refurb dials.

Be damned if I can recall who it was though

Was Rudy...but he no longer does them..unless someone else I am not aware of has taken up the torch.

on second reading I do not think they were thongs.
Things they were.

You can prolly get em out there on the internet somewhere at a place the specializes in decals and such.

I'm not buying one is faded one is not...

have an 81 GS650, and just bought an 82 GS650 - both have a brown speedo and a black tach. Also checked out a 4k GS on ebay, had the exact same thing...

post some pics of two with the same color, and I'll believe it.

Like this. Glare on the speedo makes it look a little different but they are both the same black and both origin.

Maybe it's a model year thing? My 1980 GS850 came with a dark brown face on both. I replaced the tach with one from a 1980 GS750 and it was the same color as well.

My 78 GS750 gauges are dark brown........well......for the time being, at least.....

Agree it's a model year thing...real question is did they mix the colors up too? The two GS's I have both have brown speedo, black tach. If it was just one, I would suspect that the Speedo was switched out .... but two?

EDIT:

And looking at the one FS on the forum with only 4k miles, the Speedo also looks brown... http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?t=205914

Things that make you go hmmm...
